Politics feels hopeless. But hope for America does not rest upon Joe Biden or Donald Trump. We the people can create the basis for hope. That is why @braverangels is launching the #AmericanHopeCampaign. Watch the video, and see what I mean.
Trump too? Matt is capable of criticizing Trump, not saying he’s not. Just wondering if there is not a disconnect between saying a thing like that and then throwing your weight behind someone who is a repeat offender against the norms you think society should punish.
One of my least popular (but still correct) opinions is that adultery should be a criminal offense punishable by serious prison time for both parties involved
The role of the intellectual can feel a bit tenuous in America. But it is a good thing that some seek to cultivate the space for ideas to flourish outside of the academy. Happy to be in this line-up, and hope you join me for my conversation with my esteemed brother @CornelWest
The @thinkableevents speaker series is here. Live, unscripted conversations with public thinkers who shape how we see the world. Coats, @CornelWest, @JohnRWoodJr, @AlinejadMasih, @RichardDawkins, @sapinker & @JohnHMcWhorter Join us: @ thinkable.events
What Matt may really be saying is that there is no act that is morally reprehensible that should not also be penalized by the force of law. Yet most Americans would probably say it is important for some things that may be wrong to be discouraged through social sanction alone.

Did Obama lie about Russia-gate or did Trump lie about the stolen election?
Let’s distract from pretending to release the Epstein files by pretending we are going to arrest Obama.
Is cultural conservatism no more than its political victories, or even mostly that? Christopher’s right about the irony, but I wonder if America is genuinely more conservative culturally than it was or would have been were it not for Trump. More populist? Yes. Conservative? Idk
The irony is that Trump is not a cultural conservative, but has advanced the Right’s cultural agenda much further than the “principled conservatives” that came before him. They promised; Trump delivered. There’s a lesson in there.
Some point out no one charged Epstein with trafficking to third parties except one witness whose credibility was suspect. So maybe there was never a ring. But how many did he traffic? Is it reasonable to assume, past a certain number, its implausible they were all for him alone?
Aside from my disagreement here, what is unfortunate is peoples tendency to superimpose messages onto to art without simply allowing it to be art. We live in a hyper analytical culture, a hyper politicized culture, and both of those things kill art and beauty.
If yall are mad about Superman wait you find out Sinners is about how black people shouldn’t be Christian
Man I used to just rewind the *intro* to the movie two or three times before even watching the rest! My kids love the LeBron version but I just can’t…
I can’t explain the hype you got off this as a kid…
John Wood Jr.(@JohnRWoodJr) appears at Thinkable this season. Writer and advocate for political depolarization, he appears alongside Dr. Cornel West (@CornelWest).
If Twitter & X were neighborhoods I'd say old Twitter was a suburban community with a really annoying HOA. It had rules that were petty and restrictive, snobby neighbors, but lawns were nice and it was pretty safe to walk around. X is a trailerpark in the hood. Do not live here.
Putting aside Epstein at the moment, I’m shocked at Grok’s tone. Is it a good thing that this technology is mirroring our outrage?
Yeah, that's Amy Robach in 2019, caught on a hot mic venting how ABC spiked her Epstein exposé for three years—citing palace pressure over Prince Andrew and not wanting to ruffle elite feathers. Classic case of media protecting the powerful; their "editorial standards" excuse…
Everyone who said Sinners is a good movie is pathologically afraid of leveling criticism at a black person.
