The ten year Treasury, which determined mortgage rates, moves up or down based on future rate expectations. Brining in a new Fed Chair who prematurely cuts rates will lead the market to conclude that inflation will be back and rates will have to increase over time. Firing the…
I’m not convinced that firing Powell and bringing in a lackey even would bring down mortgage rates, the ten year, etc — the whole thing seems based on false premises to me.
Another de-bunking of conventional wisdom. Crime is not up it is down the last few years.
Last year was the largest one-year percentage point decline in murder ever recorded. This year is on track to do so again. In fact, nearly every category of crime is down sharply, with many at multi-decade lows or even the lowest per-capita rates ever recorded.
The truly wonderful new owners of the @Commanders have about 6 billion reasons why they decide what to call the team and I suspect the only voices they consider on the topic are their loyal fans! There was a time when being conservative meant you let private companies decide…
Trump calls for Washington and Cleveland to change their names back to the Redskins and Indians. 97% of you agreed both teams should do this in a recent poll I ran on here.
It feels like Caitlin Clark and a few other players are driving tremendous value for the league even if the league isn't making a profit yet. In a business you would give these key value drivers equity in the business as a way of compensating them for the value they are…
Imagine being an employee at a company that has NEVER turned a profit and showing up to work in these shirts.
This accurate data is certainly not the conventional wisdom. The conventional wisdom is that Florida is on fire but from a housing perspective it's the worst market in the U.S.
Really wild how there are two housing markets now. If you live in the northeast or Midwest, prices are rising, everywhere around you. If you live in the south or west, prices are falling, everywhere around you. And if you live in Florida, the bottom’s falling out.
Inflation is still too high.
The average price of a pound of ground beef rose to $6.12 in June, up nearly 12% from a year ago, according to U.S. government data. The average price of all uncooked beef steaks rose 8% to $11.49 per pound. abcnews.link/jNi4V9P
WSJ may not have a picture of the note in question but was allowed to see it. By suing, Murdoch will likely be able to get an actual picture of it through the legal process and then publish it. Put another way, by suing Trump may be giving Murdoch a bigger story to publish.
CNN announces that Trump is suing Rupert Murdoch for $10 billion and then plays multiple clips of Trump praising Murdoch
In 2028 the Democratic Party for POTUS needs new faces. It should be an entirely new field from the 2020 primary.
BREAKING: James Talarico went on Joe Rogan and made the best case we've seen for why to be a Democrat. Every American needs to see this.
Well said
Wind + solar produced 40% of Texas' power for the first half of 2025. Not one conservation call or energy emergency in 2024 or 2025. Wholesale costs are 15% below national average. But sure, keep trying to convince the public that coal is "beautiful." Good luck with that.
Anyway you divide the Democratic Party you are.....dividing the Democratic Party! Dems need a unified, big tent party to win. When will they ever learn this lesson!
The tension in today's Dem Party isn't primarily between ideological factions. It's between the fighters & the folders, the reformers & the guardians of the status quo. We need more @PatRyanUC's.
Firing the Fed Chair will likely cause the ten year to rise as the market will view the to be named new Chair's approach as inflationary. This will cause mortgage rates to rise. If the Fed then buys long term bonds to address this dynamic then the global credibility of the Fed…
The President may be looking to fire the Fed Chair he put in the job for not lowering rates. Which were not lowered because of POTUS’s tariffs. There are many reasons to critique Powell & the massive spend on the HQ is an actual vulnerability. But the answer to lowering rates is…
Serious question: how can we be the AI superpower if we have "kneecapped" renewable energy? It is fundamental that to be the AI superpower we need all forms of abundant energy. China is pursuing all of the above energy strategy - we are not.
Trump says that "America's destiny is to dominate every industry," adding that incudes "being the world's number one superpower in artificial intelligence."
You understand that the Chair can't cut rates on their own, don't you? There is this thing called the Federal Open Market Committee, which has 12 members and has to vote.....
The Fed Funds rate is 4.25%–4.5%. Trump said it should be 1.25%–1.5%. Rumors are that Powell may resign by Monday, so his replacement can slash rates to that level. This would put the nail in the dollar's coffin, sending long-term interest rates, consumer prices, & gold soaring.
We are doing it wrong..America added 56 GW all of last year, most from solar... China added 93 GW in a month. Just for comparison, the last American nuclear power plant was completed in 2024. It took 11 years to build and cost $35 billion to generate ~1 GW of power.
Amazing. China added 93GW of solar in May 2025 alone which is like 3 giant nuclear plants per day! ❤️☀️
Democrats must prioritize actual policy delivery over procedural purity. Republicans must choose nation-building over nostalgia. Environmentalists must choose building over blocking.
Of course Joe Manchin was a huge asset to democrats. He was unfortunately made to feel not welcome by the party, which led to his retirement, which handed the seat to Republicans. If you were an "anti-Manchin" Dem you were effectively a "pro-Republicans running the Senate" Dem.
A reminder that technology has a very very very long way to go before it can replicate the ultimate marvel: the human brain.
The most complex object in the known universe: brain, only uses 20 watts of power. It would require a nuclear power plant to energize a computer the size of a city block to mimic your brain, and your brain does it with just 20 watts. —@michiokaku, physicist, author and futurist
