I find the framing of Princeton University Press as helpless victims deeply problematic. These are some of the most educated people on earth at the top of the global academic pile, with access to experts. If they don’t know better, then the metric for accountability is moot.
PUP is not the first, of course--as the familiarity of the stereotypical comments and images attest. We've seen this Potemkin dog and pony show before. But what saddens me is how PRC just betrayed Princeton U Press, right after giving it an award!
