Alex Bregman with a pinch hit 3-run homer to put the Red Sox up 5-1. And his horse won the 5th at Ellis Park. Some guys....
Per @ESPNStatsInfo : Matthew Boyd’s 10 straight games with 5 IP and 2 or fewer runs allowed is tied for the 2nd-longest streak by a Cubs pitcher in the last 125 seasons, trailing Jon Lester in 2016 (11)
Seven shutout innings by Matthew Boyd tonight. His ERA is now 2.20, second lowest in the NL. I mean there are a lot of good pitchers out there but he has to get some Cy Young votes if the season ended today. What a great year.

Per @ESPNStatsInfo: Justin Turner (40) stealing on Rich Hill (45) is the first instance of a 40+ year old runner stealing a base off of a 40+ year old pitcher since Craig Biggio did so against David Wells on July 26, 2007.
Giving us hope, Jesse! I might come out of Sec 6 and ask Counsell for a uniform!
40 year old Justin Turner just stole third base on 45 year old Rich Hill. Man, that was a fun sentence to write.
Rich Hill's first pitch as a 45 year old major league player is a 90 mph fastball. His second pitch was roped for a single.
Wrote on the Red Sox today. Had a 10 game win streak but have lost 3 of 4 since the break. Right in the thick of things as we head towards the trade deadline. Story below.
'We’re a very dangerous team now': What all this winning means for the Red Sox's trade deadline plans Boston's rise from under .500 to the thick of contention couldn't have come at a better time for the club's 2025 hopes. espn.com/mlb/story/_/id…
The good news continues for the White Sox as they're undefeated since the break. Today, their top pick in the draft, SS Billy Carlson, inked his deal with the team, signing for slot value at No. 10, about $6.2 mil. Carlson, who turns 19 in a week is from Corona, California.
Full circle moment for 45 year old Rich Hill tonight as he debuted in relief at Wrigley Field for the Cubs against the Marlins on June 15, 2005. Now he'll face them as a member of the Royals, his record (tie) 14th organization. Lineups from his debut in 2005: Juan Pierre CF…

That’s 11 in a row for the Brewers who have won 60 of their first 100 games for the 2nd time in franchise history (1979). They have sole possession of first in the NL Central and the best win pct in baseball.
The best records in MLB: Detroit (60-40) Chicago Cubs (59-40) Milwaukee (59-40) Los Angeles Dodgers (58-41) Toronto (58-41) Houston (57-42) Philadelphia (56-43) High-revenue teams. Mid-revenue teams. Low-revenue teams. No dominant teams. A wide-open postseason. What a fun year.
Per @ESPNStatsInfo: The Brewers are the 3rd team to go 6-0 or better against the Dodgers in a season, joining the 2006 Cardinals and 1994 Braves.
Not for nothing but terrible base running by Andy Pages in the 9th inning just now. Sits on 3rd instead of rounding the bag hard as the ball gets away from Andrew Vaughn. A lot of runners score the tying run right there. Instead, he's stranded and the Dodgers lose 6-5.
Just incredible: The Brewers win their 10th in a row and sweep their 6 game season series against the defending champions. And also tie the Cubs for first place in the NL Central. Both teams tied with the Tigers for the best record in the game. Heck of a 2nd half race coming.
Right-handed reliever David Robertson and the Philadelphia Phillies are in agreement on a one-year deal, as @Ken_Rosenthal reported. Robertson will receive more than $5 million for the rest of the season on his deal, which is for a prorated $16 million. Phillies need RP badly.
Pete Crow-Armstrong came into the game hitting .193 off of lefthanded pitching while Garrett Crochet had given up just 2 doubles to lefthanded batters this season. PCA doubled that total, pulling a sweeper and then a fastball. If he can add that club to his bag, watch out.
