Trump's tariffs are having harmful impacts on our supply chains, harming consumers like you. The Port of Oakland is experiencing a decline in shipping as a result. Today, the Senate took a stand against these tariffs. Californians and the American people deserve better.
Nearly 70% of the people detained in @realDonaldTrump's mass deportation rampage in Southern California have NO criminal convictions whatsoever. This isn't about keeping communities safe. It's about terrorizing families and brutalizing people based solely on appearance.
In keeping with his vision to combat homelessness and expand affordable housing, @CAgovernor today announced the state will move forward with a reorganization plan to create two new agencies - including the new California Housing and Homelessness Agency. @CAbcsh
Congratulations to this year's cohort for completing their STEM programs at @BerkeleyLab. These young minds will be at the forefront of advancing scientific research. Thanks to Dr. Faith Dukes, Director of K-12 STEM Education Programs, for making this possible.

July is UV Safety Month. Even on foggy days like this week, harmful UV rays can pass through, causing sunburns that could lead to more serious medical conditions. When working or enjoying the outdoors this summer, be sure to seek shade, protective clothing, and sunscreen.

.@CoCoHealth leadership and I shared w/@JesseArreguin the steps we are taking to effectively fight homelessness including new transitional and permanent supportive housing, and new mental health residential beds. @CCCounty @ContraCostaEHSD @roberthrogers1 @TheCoalitionSF
I recently took a tour of Richmond's Brookside Shelter to learn about the work Contra Costa County is doing to lift people out of homelessness. The County saw a 26% drop in homelessness over the past year, a testament to increases in housing options and services.

I am saddened to hear of the loss of Parole Agent Joshua Lemont Byrd, who was gunned down in the line of duty yesterday. I am thankful to the work of Oakland Police for swiftly detaining the suspect. My heart goes out to his family and colleagues at CDCR.
A state parole agent was fatally shot in Oakland on Thursday afternoon, and a suspect is in custody. sfchronicle.com/bayarea/articl…
Yesterday, healthcare workers at Highland Hospital rallied in opposition to federal cuts to Medicaid, which places 3.4M Californians at risk of losing Medi-Cal coverage. We must stand against these unjust cuts that will cause irreparable harm to our communities.

The East Bay Regional Parks District @EBRPD recently held a walk and talk at the scenic Coyote Hills Regional Park. Visit the EBRPD events calendar to find a full range of activities to learn and explore parks throughout the region: ebparks.org/calendar

Last Friday, local Richmond businesses and vendors held a community event which helped fundraise for immigrant nonprofits. Inspiring to see communities coming together in support of one another while promoting the local economy.

We look forward to working with Pro Tem Elect Senator Limón to champion for the rights and wellbeing of our communities!
Excited to tour one of Berkeley's newest affordable housing developments with @RCDHousing, the Maudelle Miller Shirek Community. 87 units of affordable housing, with preference to former Berkeley residents who have been displaced. Welcome home!

Kids running from tear gas, crying on the phone because their mother was just taken from the fields. Trump calls me “Newscum” — but he’s the real scum.
