I think the reason why people including me still have him as 1 because if we look at these past 2 years his supporting cast on the offensive of side hasn't been the greatest imo. That 2023 year they were 11-6 the 3rd seed first time being a wild card in the Mahomes era.

Patrick Mahomes is at #1 on everyone’s list due to merit and I’m fine with it but I also think it’s interesting that no other player could have two down years (relative to his peers) in a row and be given the #1 spot because of team success in individual rankings.
