We launched our union one year ago for a fairer and more transparent workplace, protections for our staff and a seat at the table. We’ve submitted more than 20 proposals to management. Just two have been agreed to. Here's where things stand. 👇 propublicaguild.org/updates/progre…
I'm immensely proud of the union we formed a year ago at ProPublica. It's been harder than we expected to settle on a contract that is just and creates a fair workplace for us all, but I am inspired everyday by my colleagues as we stand together to push for one.

Congrats to our nonprofit news siblings at Wisconsin Watch for forming the @wiswatchunion! We're calling on Wisconsin Watch management to swiftly recognize the union! ✊ Our full statement:
Intuit still really doesn’t want you to be able to file taxes directly with the IRS for free. I wrote about their latest stealth PR campaign to convince everyone it’s a terrible idea propublica.org/article/turbot…
Well, this is a deeply disappointing response from management at a nonprofit news outlet. ProPublica did the right thing and voluntarily recognized our union. This union NIMBYism by @educationweek's CEO is from the first page in the union-busting playbook.
This afternoon, EdWeek staff received an email from our CEO, @michelejgivens, with the subject line “A Labor Day weekend message.” She says a union is right for other places but not for EdWeek, and that the union belongs to a “national third-party.” We know this isn’t true. (1/4)
