100% agree. This felt like a bad decision from the very beginning. I'm all for regulation, but it should be done via player-approved public contracts. Arbitrarily capping a player's value without their input just feels remarkably unconstitutional.
Anyone who thought the House Settlement was finality was engaged in a pipe dream. I ultimately think this all ends up at the Supreme Court at some point.
The 2026 Astros Foundation College Classic will feature Texas, Coastal Carolina, UTSA, Ole Miss, Baylor and Ohio State
Individuals who attended JUCO may have stronger grounds for an exemption. The NCAA should allow players to unionize for a standardized process. Until players have a say, such lawsuits will persist.
A Nevada federal judge has granted a preliminary injunction to JUCO transfer Cortez Braham re: the NCAA's 5-Year Eligibility Rule. This is a major win for athletes amid recent NCAA victories against Jagger Giles and on appeal against Nyzier Fourqurean. heitnerlegal.com/wp-content/upl…
Just as an aside for freshmen who are currently entering the portal, I would strongly recommend you're additionally in the '25-'26 portal as well. The '24-'25 portal will only be active for a few more weeks as the '25-'26 portal traditionally opens up on August 1st.
Justin Osterhouse (@AlabamaBSB) is our @codball x 64Analytics Portal Performer of the Day Yesterday he went 2-4 with a double and a home run, while collecting an RBI and pair of runs scored for Falmouth. In his two seasons at Purdue Fort Wayne he hit 18 doubles, 25 homers and 84…

We talked about this last night on the brief pod. Tennessee felt like one of the best winners of the draft: 3 starter/contributor retentions 3 elite HS commits to campus 3 elite portal players rejecting the draft (though they did lose 3) Best JUCO player to campus With Clark,…
The Vols came out of the draft extremely well. On top of the 6 Top 100 recruits: Henry Ford (Virginia transfer) is coming. Dalton Bargo, Reese Chapman, and Brandon Arvidson also returning post-draft.
I've heard conflicting things on the JUCO exemption, but frankly, it's clear someone is expressing the reality of the exemption because 14 D2 players who we had in the top 90th % in either hitting/pitching in '25 have entered since 7/1: Michael Starrs Ryan Free Noah Williams…
Congrats Ben!!!
With the 146th pick of the 2025 #MLBDraft, the Texas Rangers select LHP Ben Abeldt from @TCU_Baseball

The Orioles are building the best college class of all time.
Some more expensive picks later in the round, but about $10 million saved, give or take, in that first round based upon bracketed player variables like age, classification, pick location, and pre-draft ranking over the last 4 years.

The Baltimore Orioles are selecting Caden Bodine with pick no. 30 and Arkansas SS Wehiwa Aloy with pick no. 31.
Happy Draft Day to all who celebrate. Already missing the draft room food spread.
This would be a remarkably dumb decision that would instantly get sued and the athlete would win easily.
The SCORE ACT would establish a one-time transfer rule. Would roll back the power athletes currently have to transfer multiple times. An NCAA committee is also currently working on a new football calendar with a one-time-only annual window.
Feels like a double-edged sword. Kids could get $300k over 3 yrs in NIL, then be a top 7 round pick, breaking even if not more. As such, you've seen more getting to campus than in the past. But a week 1st round could lead to big savings for rounds 4-7 & 11-15 as Joe alludes.
Common narrative coming out of front offices... Teams are expecting to be able to sign many more $500k-$750k high schoolers this year. Agents are doing a good job explaining the risks for freshman in college baseball. A lot of uncertainty playing college baseball in 2025.
The Board is now on sale until the end of the year. If you're looking to update your roster, you won't find a better resource.
One of my favorite aspects of The Board this year has been the map function. Pretty wild to see where the portal players were located this year.

I will probably just post nerd stuff on this handle. Because frankly, that's who I am. Quick review of baseball portal entrants over the last two years. The two cycles were actually mirrored rather closely until the week of June 2nd (x-axis is week number).
