"Oil and gasoline prices are still set in a global market. Even though the US is no longer a net importer of oil (in reality, the US both imports & exports significant amounts), prices at the pump still rise for US drivers if oil supplies are disrupted halfway around the world."

All the modern fossil fuel producing states need to consider there is a "third way", as practiced by Norway - decarbonizing their own energy consumption, especially transport, electricity and buildings in the short term with proven technologies, while continuing to export FF.
