I debated 20 far-far-far-right conservatives on Jubilee's 'Surrounded.' Below are some brief highlights of them unable to answer my basic questions or rebut the simplest of points. Not sure whether to laugh or cry. Here's the full eye-opening 'debate': youtube.com/watch?v=2S-WJN…
Congratulations to Rachel Reeves and Darren Jones for announcing the £500 million social impact fund which will help transform children and youth services in the coming years and into which social investors may add an additional £500 million.
The Spectator has a leaked memo by the increasingly famous Morgan McSweeney, outlining Labour's mistakes. Hats off to Tim Shipman and Michael Gove but from the party's point of view, I'm not sure leaking to a Tory/rightwing paper, including what books MM is reading, helps much
Amid a race to the bottom on immigration, 'Future generations will surely look back with dismay at both...legalising self-administered abortions, and the assisted-dying Bill as the ultimate displacement activity from a largely secular Parliament' churchtimes.co.uk/articles/2025/…
Prime Minister Farage is not a far-fetched idea It is complacent to write off Reform’s electoral prospects, argues @James_Macintyre churchtimes.co.uk/articles/2025/…

Ten years on, we still feel the loss of Charles Kennedy. Charles was principled, kind and possessed a talent for connecting with people - he was a great friend and an outstanding leader. I know he would have been so proud to see his old seat back in Lib Dem hands.

If Labour will not tackle child poverty, who will? A former Prime Minister and archbishop are calling for action — but is the Government listening, asks @James_Macintyre churchtimes.co.uk/articles/2025/…
Wrote about Labour and child poverty for the Church Times 'If Labour will not tackle child poverty, who will?' churchtimes.co.uk/articles/2025/…
One political point about Starmer's speech today, is that he can't easily now change course. It's done. He's chosen–he can't put Labour on an authentic progressive path persuading people of the benefits of immigration alongside, say, overseas aid, tackling child poverty and so on
Keir Starmer denies pushing anti-migrant policies in order to chase Reform, saying that "I'm doing this because it is right, because it is fair and because it is what I believe". A reminder of what he said he believed when he was running for Labour leader.
