This campsite at Kring Point State Park last night had everything you need to enjoy the Thousand Islands: a nice sunset, exposed billion year-old Canadian shield bedrock, Eastern White Pines and a clotheslin:e to dry your bathing suit for the next day of swimming.

HDR shot of the dramatic thunderstorms over Lake Ontario at dusk tonight... now if I could only get some good lightning shots. We'll see what happens tonight. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Kring Point State Park in the Thousand Islands last night. One of the best places to catch a sunset. As usual, there was a great vibe and I met some super friendly campers.
The setting sun provided some dramatic lighting on this ship passing by Boldt Castle in Alexandria Bay last night. The Federal Katsura is en route to the port of Waterford, Ireland, sailing at a speed of 4.4 knots and expected to arrive there on Aug 3.

It's been way too long since I got a decent lightning shot. The storms keep tracking to the south and north of Rochester. This was taken last week over Lake Ontario - not my best lightning shot, but I'll take it - it ends my drought. This storm was out in the middle of the lake.

Nothing like a Thousand Islands Sunset - as viewed from Frink Park along the Clayton waterfront.

Good morning from Kingston Ontario Canada, the gateway to the 1000 Islands.

Rochester fire and rescue boat in the sunset last night overlooking the Charlotte Pier in the background.

such a pristine night, with only the sound of 100 songbirds off in the distance.
Happy birthday America! Where are you watching fireworks tonight? Normally, we're in the 1000 Islands for the 4th, shooting the fireworks over Boldt Castle. But we're staying in town this year and I'm torn between staying here on the beach in Greece or going somewhere else.

Some nice crepuscular rays last night over Braddock Bay at sunset, along with a late dusk picture overlooking Lake Ontario and this morning's sunrise.

One of my favorite shots of Buck Pond... Reflections always attract my eye. This another shot using HDR photography.

The interestingly named 'When and If' sailboat returning to port in Rochester after a very rough ride with passengers on Lake Ontario yesterday afternoon. The schooner has a fascinating history, having been commissioned by General George S. Patton, the highly decorated WWll hero.

If anyone is near Charlotte right now, one of the tall ships is sailing out into HUGE waves on the Lake! Should be quite the spectacle. I'm too far away right now to get a good shot. I grabbed this shot last night of that same Schooner, which is named the "When and If".

Last night's stunning sunset overlooking the Braddock Bay Kayak Launch. Turns out, it was the calm before the storm. We've got wind driven rain along the lakeshore and large waves crashing on the beach this morning.
