So as of Q2 end, local portfolio is up 49%, intl -3%, overall +36% YTD. Local winners (eg. THA, FGL, MTU, ISA, PAN) helped offset some weakness in intl portfolio. One of the best years I’ve had thus far. Subscribers get the details tomorrow, one more day to subscribe 🙏 1/2

Also opening tiny shorts in Northam Platinum as part of the hedge. PGMs run hard, still have plenty of upside imo, but could cool off a little and wouldn’t hurt being hedged over next week or two imo. Northam too expensive anyway. $SBSW $VALT.L $THS.L remain undervalued.
There AVI comes with another beat on consensus. Incredible cost discipline from mgmt, excellent brands. Probably cheap here. 13x PE.

Opening small shorts on MTN, Remgro, Top40, as a hedge going into SA Inc updates next week + Aug 1st deadline. Not really fundamental (MTN maybe run a bit hard and Iran rumours heating up), mainly to hedge against near term risks.

Ask price at R75. Close enough. Up 100% on margin in less than 24h. Happened faster than I thought.

Trimming $TGA.L Thungela here for 125% gain on margin. Run hard over the past few sessions, marginal play in volatile season; will look to add on pullback.

Now that Exxaro is yielding less than 10% in dividends (thanks to 20% rally) I can’t wait for FMs to get excited because it offers nearly 10%.
