Two stunning books, one hauntingly beautiful world. @JLNomad’s second novel hits harder, cuts deeper, and leaves you craving the third. Full review: goodreads.com/review/show/77…
This never gets old. This is awesome.
finished this last night…easily my fave read of the year so far….the hard subjects and characters involved are all wrapped up in a wonderful flow of poetic and somewhat gentle prose…..book 2 incoming…can’t wait.
With all the Cold Silver hype happening lately (which I love) I thought I'd give The Blood Stones a little bit of spotlight today. I'm back in this world again, and I love these characters with my whole heart. Writing them feels like coming home.
One of my favorite parts is that it made them want to read book 2, which is obviously the goal!!

As part of #SPFBOCL, we have our next review of another #SPFBO Champion, it’s @JLNomad’s BY BLOOD, BY SALT. Plus for this title, we have one of our alltime fav SFF bloggers joining in to review this champion. @RobHBedford also weighs in with his thoughts
Well, this is just plain awesome. I am so honored. And excited. (and very slightly nervous, but we won't worry about that).
I have the follow-up to @JLNomad's #SPFBO champion By Blood By Salt. Purchased like book 1 with my own fair money! Needs to be a great book to make me follow on into the series.
10 writers whose books I've read five or more of? Didn't quite make it on the last. 1. C.S. Lewis 2. R. Jonathan Sacks 3. Robin McKinley 4. G.K. Chesterton 5. J.K. Rowling 6. L.M. Montgomery 7. Chaim Potok 8. Andrew Peterson 9. Beth Brower 10. J.R.R. Tolkien (only 4 here!)
10 writers who’s books I’ve read five or more of: JRR Tolkien Bernard Cornwell David Gemmell Stephen Lawhead George RR Martin Joe Abercrombie Anthony Ryan CS Lewis Larry Correia Conn Iggulden This was harder than I thought.
By Blood, By Salt was a solid book. No weak spots, just quality all around. I read it because we are judges for the SPFBO Contest of Champions. I’d set people’s expectations that this can read more like a prologue and has a slower pace (by design). It’s a military fantasy with…

This review really caught me in the chest. Sometimes it shocks me to find that the story really does say exactly what I longed for it to say.
A slow-burn masterpiece with the emotional weight of literary fiction wrapped in the grit of military fantasy. @JLNomad’s debut floored me. Read my review on Goodreads: goodreads.com/review/show/76…
Didn’t like Darker Shade unfortunately. Lila’s character was insufferable. But cool concept overall and an easy read. 2(ish) stars. Onto our next SPFBO read!
I had an absolute blast chatting with @JLNomad! Her insightful and engaging discussion left me truly inspired!
