What if I said a 64-year-old woman has spent most her nights in the cellars of Midwest NBA arenas for 40 years, providing baked goods & motherly love to all your favorite players. Nah, right? Well, meet one of the NBA's best-kept secrets, the 'Cookie Mom' theathletic.com/871883/2019/03…
For my debut story at @TheAthletic, I pulled up to watch Derrick Rose play chess. He’s seemingly found fulfillment in his new obsession. Now he’s out here hoping to grow the game: nytimes.com/athletic/64992…
Kolek is creeping toward 30 as halftime nears. Bucket after bucket right now.
Coming out of vacation very briefly to confirm @SbondyNBA report that Andy Greer, Dice Yoshimoto, Daniel Brady and Othella Harrington will not return to the Knicks coaching staff next season, per league sources, as Mike Brown crafts his own staff.

Heading out on vacation for a few weeks, but before I go, here is a column on what I liked and didn’t like from 5 Knicks players following four summer league games (they have one more game on Saturday, FYI): nytimes.com/athletic/64996…
Kolek is trying to pull a Brunson after a rough first three quarters. Hitting some big shots here late.
Wouldn’t be shocked if the majority of the main Knicks summer league guys sit for the game to ensure they go into final 2.5 months of the summer healthy.
Sat down in Las Vegas with Bucks general manager Jon Horst. In Part 1 of our conversation, we discussed the logic behind the Myles Turner move, maximizing Giannis Antetokounmpo's prime, Doc Rivers, Giannis at point forward and much more. At @TheAthletic: nytimes.com/athletic/64962…
Josh Hart underwent a procedure to his right ring finger due to an injury sustained in the playoffs. He will resume basketball activities later in the summer.
17 in the first half. Cooking.
Kolek badly needed that 3 to fall
He’s on the bench in a walking boot, so who knows how much we see him in final summer league game(s)
Hearing that Pacome Dadiet, who left last summer league game with a sore foot, will likely miss today’s game for the Knicks.

McCullar said he’s viewing this year as his rookie year after missing summer league and most of season. Said last season was a grind with rehab but teammates made sure to make him involved.
Diawara said the biggest difference has been the distance of NBA 3-point line. (my favorite thing to ask rookies about.)
Brink also said he’s been impressed with Diawara. Not he was the only non-garbage-time player to have a positive plus-minus. Said he likes the way he can get it and go, how he rebounds. Said he needs to keep working on low-man stuff defensively.
Jordan Brink said McCullar wore the mask because he got hit in Game 1.
