Lots of hot reading from SCOTUS at the end of its term. Yesterday, Jackson slammed Thomas and today Barrett smacks Jackson over universal injunctions. These attacks are sharp, but show how to resolve clashing opinions in a civil, thoughtful way fostering stability and respect.
Check out Rhode Island state rep @DavidMoralesRI encouraging federal crimes by holding a "F*ck ICE" sign at a recent Providence protest. This vile display proves he's unfit for civil society, let alone elected office. Providence and RI need to wake up and oppose creeps like this.
Found it. @JoeShekarchi says he uses this platform to put out information, not receive it. He does not follow anyone. He invites any interested individuals to show up at the State House and testify. That's fair, but it seems unwise for the speaker to ignore replies to his posts.
Respectfully, Mr. Speaker, @JoeShekarchi, why have you not yet condemned one of your members calling ICE officers "Nazi gestapo thugs"? Here, you apparently think supporting abortion is more important than denouncing attacks by elected officials on police officers? Priorities?
Proud to support the great work of @ppvotesri. We codified the protections of Roe v Wade for Rhode Island women with passage of the Reproductive Privacy Act of 2019. We expanded those protections with the Equality in Abortion Act in 2023.
On 7-13-25, ICE arrested a violent gang banger in Providence. Here's what council president @RachelRI said: "I have serious concerns, even of the perception that Providence police is partnering, working with, [or] in any way, supporting the activities of ICE." Vote @RachelRI out.
Respectfully, @SenWhitehouse, here's what you said in February about invoking the fifth. Yesterday, Anthony Bernal, Jill Biden's chief of staff, took the fifth before the House Oversight Committee. What say you about this?
Everyone has the right to plead the fifth. But the Judiciary Committee ought to care why Trump’s nominee for FBI Director felt the need to do so.
In 2021, a report by NPR senior editor Uri Berliner found that among 87 editorial staff members at NPR's Washington, D.C. headquarters, all were registered Democrats, with zero registered Republicans. No honest person would consider NPR to be nonpartisan.
On 7-12-25, the New York Times highlighted written statements of 48 federal judges, including RI's own Democratic activist "leader" of RI's federal court, John McConnell, who pretends to respect separation of powers as he intrudes into the prerogatives of the executive branch:

Let's see what the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island, a demonstrably anti-Trump political operation "led" by Democrat Chief Judge John McConnell, does about this. Maybe they'll give this guy a commendation.

Right now, Democrat Hakeem Jeffries is putting on a marathon speech like Democrat Senator Booker did a few months ago. When are Democrats going to realize that they are not losing politically because their speeches are not long enough? They are losing because their ideas stink.
It's amusing watching Democrats who have marched in lockstep for many years now pleading with house Republicans not to march in lockstep in order to defeat Trump's tax and spending bill. You reap what you sow.
The killer of the four Idaho students has agreed to plead guilty to four murders in exchange for no death penalty. Rhode Island has no death penalty, so if those horrific murders had happened in RI, the state would likely have to go to trial and take its chances with a jury.
Big loss for SDNY in the Diddy case today. Apparently, all three of the courtroom prosecutors were women. Statistically, this result seems highly improbable if the prosecutors were selected by merit. Did identity politics cost SDNY convictions on the most serious charges?
Diddy should be released today pending sentencing on the two guilty verdicts on two lesser charges of transportation of former girlfriends for prostitution. He was acquitted of the much more serious charges of RICO and sex trafficking.
Respectfully, @SenWhitehouse, you have been a strong supporter of Jews and Israel. Your party just nominated Mamdani to be the next mayor of NYC. He has a record of Jew hatred, even stating he would arrest Netanyahu if Israel's prime minster visits NYC. What say you, senator?
Today is a good day for female athletes. UPenn has agreed to apologize for allowing a male to compete on the women's swim team. All those who fought for Title IX for years and then abandoned women to indulge the folly that men can become women should hang their heads in shame.
On 6-27-25, Providence cop, Destiny Viera, was arrested and will face charges of drug dealing near a school. Chief Oscar Perez says PPD "holds our officers to the highest standards of integrity." Hey Chief, how did a person of such low character get through the screening process?
The KBJ solo dissent in the injunctions case today is a low point for her. Justices Kagan and Sotomayor wisely refused to join it. But they should have done more. They should have insisted KBJ not put out such a sub-standard piece of writing for the sake of the court's prestige.
