🚨New📜 Q: How do different individuals with unique brains perform the same action? Read🧵to find out! These findings: 1. pave the way for comparative studies across animals & 2. further show we can build brain-computer interfaces that work across users nature.com/articles/s4158…
Finally out!!! 🎆🥳 Thrilled to share our paper now @Nature Amazing collab w/ co-first author @joanna_chang_ & @juncholp @PresNCM @jtdudman @mattperich @JAlGallego at @imperialcollege @ImperialBioeng See this #tweetprint for updated summary nature.com/articles/s4158… 1/n
With this work we demonstrate that neurotechnology can be tailored to change single neuron properties thereby improving motoneuron function in a human motoneuron disease. This opens totally new avenues for the therapeutic use of neurotechnologies in neurodegenerative diseases 1/2
Hi X world! This might sound crazy but today we publish in @NatureMedicine a paper showing that neurostimulation can revert motoneuron dysfunction produced by a neurodegenerative disease! @scottensel@dona_sere @DrRFriedlander@ElviraPirondini @MCapogrosso nature.com/articles/s4159…
I (finally) defended my PhD! 🥳 BIG thanks to my supervisor @ClopathLab and my collaborators @victorpedrosabc @BarbaFeu @JAlGallego for shaping me into the researcher I am today and my examiners @RobertRosenba14 for a fun discussion yesterday.

When you perform a sequence of actions, you are always dual-tasking: You produce a movement and at the same time plan future ones. Check out @mehrdadkashefi's new paper (with @andpru). Thanks to @raeedcho for an excellent insight! elifesciences.org/articles/101739

An important cost of AI and the data economy that doesn't get discussed as much as it should imo
Data centers now consume 21% of all the electricity in Ireland, more than all its urban homes. Cloud providers still want more. This drive for ever-increasing computation serves no one but the bottom lines of major tech companies. It must be stopped. theguardian.com/world/article/…

If you have normal visual imagery, imagining a bright stimulus makes your pupils constrict. But if you have aphantasia, that doesn’t happen. Some of the best evidence out there that it’s not just “people talking past each other”. doi.org/10.7554/eLife.…
Until someone can design an experiment that can reliably distinguish between people with "aphantasia" and those without it, I'm going to continue to think that it's just people talking past each other.
