My day job is as a homemaker and homeschooling mom of four. I also moonlight writing about women and families, and advocate for stay-at-home parents.
So pleased that this working paper on reforming social insurance and employee benefits to better protect homemakers has been published. Stay-at-home moms and dads are critical to the smooth functioning of civil society, government, and business. They deserve robust protections.
NEW: @IvanaDGreco on how robust family policy should “lean in” to ensure that families with one homemaker and one breadwinner can make the same use of social insurance and employer benefits as families where both parents work. Read the full proposal: americancompass.org/essays/a-home-…
My big kids unloaded the dishwasher, vacuumed, and cleaned their rooms/made their beds … and both little kids are napping at the same time. This has literally never happened before and may never happen again but I feel I have reached parenting nirvana.
Here is the paradox of early motherhood: - last night, baby didn't sleep well, and that was very challenging - this morning he was delightedly sitting on my lap chomping tiny pieces of bagel and drinking cappuccino foam from a spoon, and that was so joyful
One of the wonderful things about having a toddler is you briefly become an incredible artist in someone’s eyes. Although you do have to cope with challenges like: - draw my foot PURPLE - want house PINK window PINK roof PINK

Nine months and can’t wait to walk (I don’t think he’s close though, sorry buddy)

My 4yo just pointed to a table and asked "Why is this a table?" I've trained my whole life for this.
My new induction stove just boiled a full pot of water for corn in under 10 minutes. Please note I am henceforth an induction stove evangelist.
Turned 40 and suddenly want to paint every room in the house bright colors. ✨ Is this middle age ?? ✨
Friends, I've been working on something different this summer: a new podcast @mereorthodoxy -- Christians Reading Classics! It pairs with my forthcoming book @ZonderAcademic but is about a lot more than just ancient classics. Introduction is live now! open.spotify.com/show/3h8zciESj…
Something I don't like: a middle-aged mother gets her act together and attributes it to a sudden case of self-discipline, not her youngest child turning four or getting enough sleep or the gradual accumulation of experience finally flowering in phronesis.
