It’s a kindness to tell founders “this isn’t venture scalable.” Too many VCs grin fuck founders when passing instead of giving them a reason for why it’s not fundable. I wasted 5 yrs of my life because VCs let me make excuses for why “Firefighting Drones” could be a $1b ARR…
Met a brilliant founder today bootstrapping a $10M ARR biz who said many VCs told him "there's no market for that" or "that'll never work" This is so cruel. This is someone's life's work. Most have never and could never build a thing themselves. Be nice or shut up.
My friend @jonsidd runs one of the FASTEST growing cos in tech (adding 9 figs ARR monthly). Jon’s hiring a Chief of Staff for @turingcom. You’ll be in his meetings closing deals, hiring people, spinning up new products, & more. Reach out if you’re young, hungry, & technical!

Is there anywhere to meet people outside of Blue Bottle in South Park? I take all my in person meetings there, go for a walk around the park & end up at the Cluely or Standard Intelligence offices. Also looking for the best bars, lunch places, coffee shops, etc. to meet people.
Happy to confirm that you can raise (at least some portion of) a $25m fund 1 by stapling an LP commit into your fund to co-invest opportunities in super hot growth stage companies. Ask me how I know 🥳
A GP told me that he couldn't raise his 1st fund for 18 mo. til he offered LPs a coinvest opportunity in Toast & has now raised $1b+ AUM in the 7 yrs since. I asked other VCs thinking they'd be like "don't do it", but lots of ppl are like "that's how I raised!" is this a thing?
Great way to go into my 25th birthday today - first $1m fundraise day for SF1! I thought raising for a fund would be more meritocratic & LPs would care about my track record, but the same concepts of "momentum" & "deal heat" that exist for startups exist when raising from LPs.
My IRR in the first half of 2025 is just an infinity symbol at this point
Bad news for this guy — Mercor has received preemptive offers at up to ~$10B, just four months after announcing their Series B at $2B. They have declined these offers so far. The company continues to grow rapidly.
The unintended benefit of spending the last 5 years Angel Investing into the smartest people I knew is that their employees are now starting companies and it feels like I’m just perfectly primed to capture the flow.
