As we welcome a new cohort of trainees to the lab, here’s what we tell them. Mistakes aren’t bad, they are a sign of progress. However, mistakes + understanding where we went wrong + course correction = the way to go. Never try to cover up blunders, own it and use it to grow 💪🏼
TBT when I dabbled in Fluid art. As someone who likes to meticulously plan things 10 steps out, it was difficult to initially accept the idea that while you can choose the colors, they flow randomly & art emerges spontaneously. But then it taught me to embrace uncertainty❤️
Sometimes in the buzz of life, you forget your past chapter and the joy it brought you. But all it takes is one pic you stumble onto randomly for it all to come rushing back choking you with nostalgia. 3 of my fav water bodies in Wisconsin - Lake Geneva, Cave Pt, Algoma! ❤️
Recollecting the 1st @IndAcadNeurosci mtg we went to @nehu_shg in 2022. Lab was months old, so was @Yogeshsahu2030 in his PhD. Showed up with whatever ideas and data we had, knowing none but eager to integrate w/ the Neuro comm. in 🇮🇳BEST decision ever. Join us in this yr’s mtg!
Dr.Prakash, our postdoctoral fellow has landed a CSIR-RA fellowship which means he’s going to travel with us for 3 years on a funded project! Join us in celebrating this and we can’t wait for the cool stem cell science he’s going to bring to the world👏🏼🙌🏻🎉🎉🥳
To Indian Parents: There is no set time for marriage, kids/“settling down”. People are running their own race and will hit those milestones at the pace and time that feels right to them, not when it feels right to you. 🤷🏻♀️ the # of 👌🏼 female trainees we have lost to this is sad

💡@ANRFIndia @shivkuma_k Pairing National Lab researchers with academic PIs for ARG is spot-on! A keyword-tagged PI database within the ANRF website would turbo-charge matching and help those without connections or PIs who are uncomfortable with cold emails to potential Co-PIs.
Gotta say, @ANRFIndia feels God-sent in terms of how they're handling proposals. Clear Guidelines, Dedicated helpline (wow) and (so-far) seamless web-portal. If the post-award procedures are this smooth, then salute🫡
For those applying to the recent @ANRFIndia call, keep in mind it’s *mandatory* for PIs from National labs to have a Co-PI from an academic institution. Welcome move IMO, ❌ echo chamber collabs, forge new collabs which will ALSO strengthen academic research ecosystem. ✅✅

We had a lab movie screening today of @PictureaSciFilm Gender bias is rampant in STEM but depending on who you talk to some will say it’s no longer a problem 🤷🏻♀️ I say drop what you’re doing & watch this if you’re in Science in any way/form/level. BECOME AWARE. It starts there.
