Just seven high-major teams return 50% or more of their minutes. That means who you retain (and what position they play) matters a ton. Oregon: Shelstad & Bittle Iowa St: Lipsey & Jefferson Wisconsin: Blackwell & Winter Arizona: Bradley & Awaka cbssports.com/college-basket…
Talking Szn just reiterates how little I care about some of the big-picture items in college sports, like greedy execs wanting to tweak a good playoff format. Learning about the players, understanding roster-building & finding the strengths or weaknesses of teams is way more fun
In each of the last three seasons, at least 20 of the top-30 teams had continuity at lead guard and big man. Basketball is starting to emulate football with certain positions mattering more than others. Digging into this trend and which duos are up next. cbssports.com/college-basket…
Excellent research that correlates very closely with the college basketball transfer portal. Specifically, the volume of 3s that a transfer takes is way more predictive than noisy make-or-miss stats that can flip-flop like crazy based on the situation they are walking into.
ICYMI: i looked at which summer league stats are the stickiest -- which ones can tell us something about how a player will perform in their rookie season thef5.substack.com/p/summer-leagu…
This is Rick Ankiel-levels of absurd. Ronald Acuña has a bazooka for an arm.
Episode 1 of the @Isaac__Trotter Show is awesome. Incredibly smart but fun college basketball. And #illini fans will like the first episode, breaking down Illinois and some of their top opponents. Give it a listen. I’m adding it to my rotation.
"How fun is Mikel Brown, Jr.?" @Isaac__Trotter and @2ndChancePoints discuss Louisville's dynamic freshman on the debut episode of The Isaac Trotter Show. The full episode drops Tuesday, July 15!
The first episode of The Isaac Trotter Show, sponsored by @HomefieldApparl, drops Tuesday under the @basket_review umbrella! The great @2ndChancePoints and I dished on which teams have built the bones of a top-10 offense.

Amidst a recruiting sea of chaos, one thing remains constant.... July is still the most important month on the calendar. The @247Sports team is ready to cover the next two live periods like no other and this is your live period primer (VIP) 247sports.com/longformarticl…
The Year 2 transfer jump is a real thing that has helped spark some eruption spots. Diving into the top nominees to make a serious surge - Vandy's Devin McGlockton - UConn's Tarris Reed - Arkansas' DJ Wagner - Illinois' Kylan Boswell - UCLA's Eric Dailey cbssports.com/college-basket…
Really think Ace Bailey has a lot higher floor in the NBA than the “high risk, high reward” narrative suggests. Maybe he doesn’t turn into a star. But there will always be a spot in the league for a super athletic 6-9 wing who can make no-dip 3s like this
Good column. If it gets expanded to 76, nearly 30 (!) combined Big Ten or SEC teams could make the Big Dance thanks to the financial influx on roster-building. Do we really need that?
A vote on NCAAT expansion is near. The biggest reason behind the push is "access." But that's a bogus selling point and I have the proof right here. One last clear-eyed case against messing with a beloved American treasure. Leave the tournament alone. cbssports.com/college-basket…
First episode of The Isaac Trotter Show drops next week 👀 Going to have a blast breaking down the nitty gritty of college basketball with some of the smartest analysts in the country.
I’m thrilled to announce a new college basketball outlet called Basket Under Review. New podcasts, shows and written content coming July 14. Follow along here: @basket_review
FIBA U19 gave a fascinating peek into CBB’s freshman class. Takeaways 🔽 on: — this year’s Jakucionis(?) — Olivier Rioux’s progression — lethal Louisville — AJ Dybantsa — gems at Northwestern/Washington + notes on UConn, South Florida, Syracuse & more. cbssports.com/college-basket…
Albert Pujols’ career stats at Wrigley Field will always be insane: 30 bombs in 100 games with a .994 OPS. This one on Fourth of July was obliterated.
Wrote about some under-the-radar takeaways from the NBA Draft - 13 of the 20 5-star prospects from 2024 became first-round picks. Best mark in years - RJ Luis' miscalculation - Carter Bryant (and Jahmai Mashack) depict how the role player path is viable cbssports.com/college-basket…
