It was great to attend Alzheimer’s Research UK #ARUKConf25 conference in Birmingham and present my poster, I am looking forward to coming back into the lab with many new ideas

The authors show data indicating that soil extracts contain boba fide prion infectivity following inoculation into transgenic mice. IMO, this is some of the strongest evidence to date for environmental prions.
Today we introduce a new drug candidate for prion disease: a PrP-lowering divalent siRNA. A 4-year collaboration with @RTI_UMassChan enabled by @NINDSfunding IGNITE & URGenT mechanisms. biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Our hope is to advance this to the clinic, wish us luck!

Before we leave the #Prion2024 conference in Nanchang, me and @IoannaChat have more very serious research business to attend to at this prestigious institution.
Congratulations to the Unit’s PhD student Tom Trainer (supervised by Szymon Manka) who won joint first place poster prize at #prion2024 for work on fluorescent imaging of prion fibrils in and on cells.
I had the exciting opportunity to present a poster at #Prion2024 , organized in the Jiangxi province of China. Many thanks to the amazing organizers!
