A Song Thursh yesterday in our garden in Yardley B25 bashing &dropping a snail to retrieve the edible part from the shell. S Thrush's are rare in our garden so I assume the current dry spell and lack of earth worms is driving this behaviour @EcoRecording @Team4Nature

A Willow Warbler singing in the Common Oak tree in our garden in Yardley B25 8TT this morning. This is only my second Willow Warbler of the spring (heard one singing last Thursday at Sheldon Country Park) @EcoRecording @Team4Nature

A few bird photographs from Lyndon Playing Fields in Solihull early this afternoon. A pair of Common Raven's were mobbing a Common Buzzard & there were a couple of singing Chiffchaffs, a Song Thrush amongst the regular species. No Blackcaps or Whitethroats yet. @RSPBSolihull




I think this is a Dark-edged Bee fly in our garden today in Yardley B25, on this Lesser Celandine flower. Meanwhile at the other end of our garden we have a couple of clumps of frog spawn and 20-25 Common frogs.. #spawnwatch @WTBBC @EcoRecording @NaturallyBirmi1 @Team4Nature



It’s always fascinating @BibbeysWildFarm when the seasons turn Most of our wintering finch & bunting left last week. This morning there were 600+ birds, mainly passing migrants with an increasing element of returning local breeders Always nice to see Treecreeper & Grey Wagtail
28 species recorded around a cold Lakes am inc resident Mute Swan pair + 2 Canada on Engine, 3 Cormorant fishing + 5 on W, raft, 6 Greylag + 5 Canada on Terry's, Kingfisher in lagoon area, Goldcrest pair long S. f/path & Stock Dove pair in Mereside conifers.
I saw 20 bird species in 20 mins in Yardley cemetery today including Coal Tit, 3 Redwing, male Gt Sp W'pecker & a Gn Woodpecker. A hairy footed flower bee was on Daffs. There was a Mistle Thrush & a Pied Wagtail at the nearby Yew Tree. @EcoRecording @Team4Nature

This was the last time Rick and Bruce saw each other which was on the 22nd of August 2024. Rick phoned me and said he would like to pop in and see Bruce and asked if he was out of hospital. I told him he was at home and within two hours he arrived at his gate. Pic by Kate Foxton
2 Skylarks were singing above the runway 15 threshold at BHX & east end of Sheldon Country Park yesterday pm at in the warm weather. Viewing someone's photos on one of the BHX enthusiasts Facebook groups there was a M Stonechat on the perimeter fence here on Tue @EcoRecording .
