Following the war in #Tigray, Newi village was heavily contaminated with unexploded ordnance, endangering over 1,900 families Working with the community, the @ICRC and @EthioRedCross fenced off identified sites, restoring safe access to farmland and grazing areas.



Empowering frontline health workers means saving more lives. @ICRC held a 5-day Basic Emergency Care Training in Bahir Dar for 16 health workers from 7 health facilities in North & West #Gojjam #Amhara region. This will enable them to provide quick and effective emergency care.

The @ICRC recently held a Basic Emergency Care training for 15 health professionals from eight facilities in the #Somali Regional State. The strengthened capacities will support lifesaving interventions for weapon-wounded patients and other medical emergency cases.



On 15-18 July 2025, @ICRC facilitated a workshop on safe and humane prison management for 26 #Ethiopia Federal Prison Commission managers. The Commissioner said the training helped strengthen their capacity to “protect the security and dignity of detainees.” #MandelaDay

Over 200 members of #Ethiopian armed and security forces participated in sessions on humanitarian rules in conflict-affected areas of East Wellega and Horo Guduru, #Oromia region. A Commander stressed that they now understood better “the need to uphold humanity even in warfare”.

The @ICRC donated 14 ambulances to the @EthioRedCross, as part of a long-standing humanitarian partnership. 10 of them will be deployed in conflict-affected areas within #Amhara and #Oromia regions, playing a vital role in delivering life-saving care to communities.

Security forces in #Tigray are taking steps to reduce the dangers posed by explosive remnants of war in many inhabited areas. With our support, 94 officers have been trained on weapon contamination awareness and safe storage of ammunition, early July in Abiyi Adi and Shire.

The @ICRC delivered medicine & medical supplies to Adola General Hospital in Guji Zone, #Oromia, Masero Health Center, Debark Hospital,and @UGondar Hospital One Stop Center in #Amhara. This enhances the facilities' capacity to provide health care services to the affected people.

We engage with police and security forces to promote humanitarian principles and specific rules of human rights. The @ICRC held a session on international norms regulating use of force, arrest, & detention for 40 regional police officers in Fafan and Jarar zones, #Somali region.
