Our teams are seeing an unprecedented rise of acute malnutrition among people in Gaza. Our colleagues are reporting that injured patients are begging for food instead of medicine, and parents are skipping meals to feed their children: msf.org/two-msf-facili…
At our facilities in Gaza last week, 25% of the children and pregnant women we saw were malnourished. The deliberate starvation of people cannot be normalised. Food and supplies must enter Gaza at scale. msf.org/msf-finds-1-4-…
The cost of having the fewest beds & staff anywhere with a developed economy is measured in the 2,000 people on hallway stretchers, the 250,000 waiting for surgeries, the elderly whose care is rationed, the staff leaving in droves & rural ED closures. ottawacitizen.com/news/ontario-h…
Rolling Emergency Department closures are hitting the Blind River, Thessalon and Richard's Landing hospitals. The crisis in staffing rural and northern hospitals continues and the Ford government has not put a viable plan in place to address it. It's urgent that this happen.

The Ford government promised to end hallway medicine but Trillium reports the problem worsening significantly. An aging, growing population seeks help from hospitals with the least bed & staff capacity in the developed world, whose budgets have been cut in 8 of last 11 years.

Citizen's Liz Payne highlights one of the Kafkaesque consequences of the fee for service billing system. No access to a physician and none to diagnostics. Many of those without doctors are the most marginalized. "We're working on it" is not good enough. ottawacitizen.com/news/local-new…
Mass starvation is spreading in Gaza. Our colleagues and the people we serve are wasting away. It is time for governments to take decisive action and save lives: msf.org/mass-starvatio…
The Guardian: '111 signatories, including Doctors Without Borders (MSF) warned that “our colleagues and those we serve in Gaza are wasting away”. The groups called for an immediate ceasefire, the opening of all land crossings and the free flow of aid through UN-led mechanisms.'

Kiosks are essentially inaccessible to people with literacy issues and/or for whom English is a second language. The hospitals' mania for replacing people with software and machinery leaves many vulnerable as they try to access acute care. kioskmarketplace.com/news/ontario-e…
UNRWA has enough food for the entire population of #Gaza for over three months stockpiled in warehouses–including this one in Al Arish, Egypt–awaiting entry. The supplies are available. The systems are in place. Open the gates, lift the siege, allow UNRWA to do its work and…
“Lena says while she's out striking, replacement workers are undermining the union. "They are stealing our jobs," she said. More than that, she says, they don't provide the same quality of service to the residents as she and her unionized colleagues”👇 cbc.ca/news/canada/to…
A new Statscan analysis: for-profit LTC facilities provided residents with 50 fewer minutes of total direct care in 2019 and 34 fewer minutes of total direct care in 2020, compared with public LTC facilities. www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/82-003-…
With recent announcements, Premier @fordnation has more than doubled Ontario’s investment in for-profit health care to more than half a billion dollars. These investments channel desperately needed public funding into private profits, drawing vital resources away from…
My last report is downloadable on Rainews' platform: quite a development. Thank to the conscientious journalists who have worked hard, from within the system, to have my findings and analyses land on mainstream platforms during this genocide. rainews.it/dl/doc/1752426…
Trump administration rolls back raise to the minimum wage for people with disabilities. These workers are paid as little as 25 cents an hour - about $400 a year. Set against massive tax cuts for the wealthy in the budget bill, the irony is just too much. wapo.st/4mb9kif
Mark Carney is slashing public service, supercharging military spending, and ramming through a right-wing agenda—while Liberal voters stay stuck in denial. @Martin_Lukacs says it’s time to clue in to what’s happening, follow the money—and put up a fight. breachmedia.ca/mark-carneys-r…

This morning Israeli forces expanded their incursion in western Khan Younis, southern Gaza. Tanks advanced, and airstrikes and drones fired into an area full of displaced civilians with no prior warning. As they advanced further west, people who have already been displaced…
Code Black in @EssexCountyON (no ambulances available to respond) This crisis isn’t new & it hasn’t been solved. Until EMS staffing, funding, & working conditions are meaningfully addressed, Code Blacks will only grow. Our communities deserve more. @fordnation @SylviaJonesMP
