Howling For Wolves was created to be a voice for wild wolves. We are working to change laws to protect wolves for future generations.
Thank you to everyone who attended Wolf Day 2024 at the MN State Capitol! Couldn’t make it or want a refresher of what was discussed? Check out the recording of our meeting and hear our lawmakers speak for the wolf! youtube.com/watch?feature=…
Wolves are woven into America’s wild past, symbolizing resilience and the untamed spirit of our nation’s roots. As a keystone species, they keep ecosystems healthy — protecting them means preserving a vital part of our heritage. app.sosha.ai/s/iw6GfG5G
We’re building a movement. Team Wolf is a pack of advocates, scientists & conservationists fighting for the long-term protection of Gray Wolves by creating the largest pack of wolf advocates in the world. Kick-off calls start next week! Sign up now: TeamWolf.Org
Wolf hunting is never a legitimate way to “manage” wolves— hunting quotas are meaningless because there is no control once wolf killing begins. Stay vigilant! Hunting is no way to continue recovering wolves from going extinct. Spread the word— there's NO NEED FOR A WOLF HUNT!

Protecting wolves protects ecosystems and biodiversity.

Republicans, led by Reps. Tiffany (WI) & Boebert (CO), reintroduced a bill to remove Endangered Species Act protections for gray wolves. The bill would delist wolves nationwide & block judicial review, giving Congress unchecked control. Read more: bit.ly/3Eu9119
As a wolf org, we often get folks asking us if an image they saw or perhaps even took are of a wolf or coyote. In some cases, it’s very obvious. In others, it’d be impossible to know for sure without genetic testing. Check out this article to learn more: bit.ly/wolvcoy
Since 2021, we’ve been proud partners of @TeamWolf_org —a passionate movement of advocates fighting for long-term wolf protection. Now, they’re building the biggest pack of wolf supporters in the world. Join the pack with this questionnaire now: bit.ly/418upSJ

A new Wyoming bill aims to strengthen animal cruelty laws with harsher penalties & hunting suspensions. Unfortunately, it fails to fully ban using vehicles to run down wildlife. While it's a small step in the right direction, WY's wildlife & especially wolves deserve BETTER.

A study explores how gradual changes in ecosystems alter our perception of “normal.” The absence of Gray Wolves in Western US national parks has triggered imbalances, leading to overgrazing, habitat loss & declining biodiversity. Read more: bit.ly/4aI5OqP

When wolves were nearly eradicated from the United States prior to the creation of the Endangered Species Act, Minnesota was home to the only wolves that remained in the contiguous U.S.. No species can thrive when they exist on a genetic island.

A study in @nature exposed that between 2004 & 2019, average annual wolf mortality increased from 21.7% before hunting seasons to 43.4% during AND AFTER hunting seasons including a more than TRIPLING of human caused wolf mortality.

We must work together to #BanWolfHunting for good in Minnesota! The time to fight to #KeepThePacksIntact is now! Please consider donating to HowlingForWolves.org today to help us in our effort to #BanWolfHunting for good. Image courtesy of @candacedyar

Facts: 🐺 Wolves in Minnesota are already being killed by Wildlife Services. 🐺 A ban on recreational wolf hunting would not stop the lethal take of wolves by government agencies. 🐺 Wolf hunting cannot be controlled. 🐺 There is no need for a wolf hunt.

Sweden has begun its controversial wolf hunt, aiming to halve the country's endangered wolf population by killing 30 wolves from five entire families. Read more here: bit.ly/49ZDkZv
To legitimately delist wolves from endangered status, MN must prove ongoing recovery efforts. Legalizing wolf hunts, left to the DNR's discretion, won't protect or aid their recovery, but rather fuels calls for their culling. Our state must #BanWolfHunting before it’s too late.

We’ve seen that the inclusion of a potential wolf hunt in the @minnesotadnr’s wolf management plan can prove catastrophic for wolves. Continue to raise your voice at HowlingForWolves.org/Take-Action!

**Victory for Wolves!** The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service upheld ESA protections for wolves, rejecting petitions to delist them in the Great Lakes & West Coast. Thanks to FWS for defending science! Call **1-800-344-WILD** to thank Director Williams!

When wolves were hunted to near extinction across the contiguous United States, Minnesota wolves were the only wolves to survive. Minnesota wolves cannot live on a genetic island. The time to #BanWolfHunting is NOW! Image courtesy of @wolf_hollow_ma & @hellorainyday

🚨 Breaking: A win for Gray Wolves! 🐺 @USFWS rejected petitions to roll back Endangered Species Act protections for Gray Wolves in the Western Great Lakes (MI, WI, MN) and West Coast (OR, WA, CA).
Wolf hunting isn’t a tradition—it’s a destructive practice rooted in outdated efforts to eradicate them. It disrupts packs, increases conflicts, and harms ecosystems. It CANNOT be controlled. Wolves are vital for biodiversity, and most Minnesotans want them protected.
