#OnThisDay in 1812 - Battle of Salamanca. Both the 11th and 14th Light Dragoons fought at Salamanca, both earning the battle honour.

Today we're highlighting the 1820s political cartoons of the 10th Hussars. 🎨 Whilst stationed in Ireland they grew a reputation for arrogance and snobbery, something that would soon become a staple of London's caricatures and political illustrations!

Happy #InternationalPortraitDay ! We have chosen to celebrate today by highlighting a selection of the military portrait photographs across our regiments! 🖼️




#FromTheArchives 🗃️: Portrait photographs of Sergeant George Withers DCM, 20th Hussars. Likely pre-1914, Withers served in France until 1916 when he was discharged on medical grounds. He lived in Oldbury, Birmingham for the rest of his life, passing away in 1977, aged 87!

#OnThisDay 110 years ago, the 10th, 11th, and 20th Hussars saw the beginning of the Second Battle of Ypres. This selection of photographs of the 11th come from the photo album of T.T. Pitman



On 16th April 1945 - 'B' Squadron of the 11th Hussars aided in the Liberation of Stalag XI B. This was the first British POW camp to be liberated by the advancing allied troops!



Today is the 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Medicina! #OnThisDay Major 'Bodge' Browne was awarded the Distinguished Service Order for his bravery and gallantry throughout the battle. 🎖️

Today is #WorldArtsDay2025 Here are a selection of sketches from R.A.L Hartman's time at the Western Front with the 11th Hussars! Hartman would go on to become a member of the Royal Academy of Watercolours, and even display some of his work at the Royal Academy! 🖼️

Unfortunately, the Museum will be closed tomorrow (Sat 23 November) However, you can join the museum team at Datchet Women's Institute Hall (SL3 9EH), as Datchet's first blue plaque is unveiled; honouring Sergeant Henry William Engleheart VC, 10th Royal Hussars.

Chum Horace Reginald Merry was a member of the Leeds & District Branch of The Old Contemptibles' Association. In 1914 he served with the 20th Hussars.
