Founders Online is how I found the "solemn warning" from George Washington to my great-great etc. grandfather. It's a fantastic resource. founders.archives.gov/documents/Wash…
Much like the public land sales that were originally in the Big Beautiful Bill, the proposed 2026 Fiscal Year budget includes zeroing-out of the National Historic Records and Publications Commission (NHPRC) and proposes the elimination of the National Endowment for the Humanities…
Our nation's history is just as important as our public lands. Preserving both are absolutely vital to passing our shared heritage and exceptionalism on to our children

Just one example of the sort of thing NHPRC is absolutely essential for.
We're applying for a grant from NHPRC to digitize massive numbers of documents in the South Carolina Department of Archives and History. These documents will gradually become inaccessible as people stop being able to read 17th-19th century script--and God forbid a fire!
Update on the NHPRC situation: a number of dear friends are in communication with individuals connected with both the admin and Congress to see if this can be reversed. Hopefully they restore this critical funding (with the proviso that it be used for patriotic ends), but if not…
Our history is worth saving. 🇺🇸🇸🇴

if anyone in congress or the administration is reading this, a plea regarding an item in the 2026 budget worth considering 🙏

Good morning to everyone except for those trying to destroy the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).
I have used these resources regularly and consider it invaluable that any ordinary citizen can just peruse the writings of our Founders for free without the need to travel to an archive. I heartily agree with Craftsman's view.

Time to raise the black flag again, fellas. Speak now or forever hold your discontented peace.
I'm breaking my Twitter leave because this is an emergency. This is *our* history and we mustn't allow some spreadsheet-brained functionaries to sacrifice it in a misguided attempt at efficiency. These belong to all of us, we need to fight this. Please, please amplify…
Protect our historical documents! Keep digitizing and digitizing and digitizing some more! They are every American's patrimony. Make them accessible to all
Our History deserves the same care as our Land.

Be like scrub, folks! Trying to work on organizing a larger campaign here to raise awareness. Hopefully this is easier to change than the land bill, there are less interests here I'd assume
I’m gonna add “write to my rep” to tonight’s to-do list.
It's incredible that for all the administration's talk of celebrating the founding they are ready to gut the most important means we have of preserving and making accessible our historical documents without a second thought.

I apologize Yud, we should have bombed the servers after all
