In the 1950s, trainspotting was a beloved pastime for little boys across Britain. Eyes bright with excitement and dressed in shorts, woollen jumpers or neat jacket and ties, and flat caps, they’d gather at platforms with their notebooks and eagerly record locomotive numbers.
