When I produced this game 25 years ago, I didn't expect this game to remain in the hearts of many people in many countries for so long and continue to be loved. For now, I just express my gratitude to everyone.☺️
Koudelka released 25 year ago today on PlayStation!
The PS1 game Koudelka having all the actors in the same room really is making every cutscene so natural and fascinating. I think it easily has the best voice acting in the entire PS1 catalog in my opinion
Soon @lostincult 👀
High-poly 3D model of Koudelka. The left side is the original model that came up from the designer. The right side is the finished model. I gave instructions to the designer and had it corrected up to the smallest details. You can see that the atmosphere is quite different. ☺️

1998 Koudelka motion capture session at Future Light Studio in West Hollywood. ☺️
Had dinner with @Hiroki_Kikuta_E the legendary director of Koudelka and the composer of Secret Of Mana. 🍣
Today is Halloween. Kudelka Day has come again. I will show you a little bit of the characters from the design art collection that is currently being organized. ☺️ Koudelka Iasant
Koudelka creator Hiroki Kikuta and his team took a research trip to Pembrokeshire in #Wales, and were inspired by the location’s scenery, steep cliffs, and castle ruins. St David’s Cathedral’s medieval appearance was a big influence on the Monastery's design.
To motion capture this scene of Koudelka, I filmed a 10-minute one-take play of Koudelka and Edward 10 times. It was January 1999. Of course, the lines are also recorded at the same time, and the equipment for that purpose was also developed exclusively. ☺️
Koudelka's drinking scene should be considered a world heritage moment #spoilers
Image design of Koudelka, Ogden, Charlotte. ☺️
Charlotte is a very important character in the game Koudelka. It was Sara Paxton, 12 years old at that time, played Charlotte's movements and voices. Who could have imagined that she would become the most famous of all the people involved in the development? ☺️
I noticed while editing that this dining room in Koudelka looks different before & after saving Charlotte. The room is darker (and creepier) beforehand. Also, the table is set and flowers (on the table & behind Koudelkas head) prepared as though she was waiting for someone. Neat!
Needless to say, KOUDELKA is a game made with a focus on horror RPG, which is a very rare genre, and also experimental. So, I never imagined that it would be a piece that so many people would remember with affection. I'm sure it's the result of serious hard work.☺️
Check it out! There are many amazing pieces here that demonstrate the breadth and depth of Kikuta-san's musical talent😊

Patience is now almost perfectly played and MIXed on DAW with the almost same sound as before. Of course, I can also add various effects such as reverb and delay to each track.☺️
I think that a horror story must have a little sarcastic laugh. Laughter and fear coexist in this conversation between Kudelka and Edward. You can also feel the strength of Kudelka, who doesn't care about Edward’s suffering and talks calmly. ☺️
Koudelka was so amazing for a PS1 game. You could tell they had actors performing in the same room. The cutscenes were like watching a play. Just riveting stuff stuff
This is the audio of the dialogue of Koudelka and Edward drinking together in front of the fireplace. This scene was filmed nearly 10 times. This is the first take, and I think it's a great play, but it was not used because there was a problem with the motion capture data. ☺️
The wooden structure in front replaces doors and walls. The results of the motion capture are displayed in real time on the TV monitor in the back. This is a special system with very high accuracy, and it was possible to use the data as it was without much modification. ☺️
Emotional conversation, when arguing, you don't wait for the other person to finish speaking. In most time, you interrupt the other person's words and start to refute. The only way to assemble it into a play in a natural way is to record everyone's lines at the same time.☺️
