I'm excited to share that I've joined @ArabReform_ARI as a Senior Non-Resident Fellow. By centering local voices, I aim to shape inclusive political frameworks and deepen engagement among Syrian civil society, policymakers, and the international community. arab-reform.net/people/haid-ha…
My latest argues that the ceasefire may have stopped the shooting, but it’s no return to normal. Syria has changed at its core, and without tackling the underlying causes, this calm won’t hold. en.majalla.com/node/326545/po…
Publicly releasing the recently finalized fact-finding report on the March coastal violence—& transparently holding all perpetrators accountable—could help build confidence in the transitional authorities’ commitment to justice, regardless of affiliation. syria.tv/%D9%84%D8%AC%D…
The Ministry of Information’s move against two influencers promoting anti-Druze hate speech is welcome, but not enough. A broader response is needed, as others—including prominent journalists—still incite violence with impunity. syria.tv/%D9%88%D8%B2%D…
In this @Channel4News interview, @HaidHaid22 discusses the violence in Sweida, reactions to al-Sharaa’s promises to hold perpetrators accountable & the need for a clear political process to stop the fighting & build trust in the transitional government. channel4.com/news/people-ar…
In my interview with Channel 4, I highlight why many in Sweida are skeptical of Interim President al-Sharaa’s promises to hold perpetrators accountable-and what steps are needed to build confidence and trust in the transitional government. channel4.com/news/people-ar…
In my latest interview, I highlight the fragility of the situation on the ground & stress the need for a genuine process that addresses the underlying drivers of Sweida’s multilayered conflict, as well as the catastrophic ripple effects it has unleashed. youtube.com/watch?v=0oeRVn…
Very disturbing to see a member of the committee tasked with preserving civil peace in Syria openly celebrating the tribal mobilization as a religious duty to “invade” Sweida—rather than using his position to deescalate tensions and prevent further violence. He should step down.
In my CNN interview, I discussed the fragile situation in #Sweida after the ceasefire, highlighting ongoing violations & continued fighting. I emphasized the urgency of replacing symbolic gestures with genuine efforts to address the conflict’s root causes. youtube.com/watch?v=crHOg5…
In my BBC interview, I argued that while the #ceasefire in #Sweida is a welcome step, it won’t prevent future violence if it simply restores the status quo. It should be seen not as a resolution, but as a starting point for deeper political engagement. youtube.com/watch?v=PpGhAi…
Reposting my recent @ME_Council policy note, which unpacks the root causes behind the recent clashes between Sweida factions and forces aligned with Syria’s transitional government. Addressing these underlying tensions is essential for the current ceasefire to hold.
In this policy note, @HaidHaid22 examines the fragile process of military unification in post-Assad #Syria. Despite symbolic progress—such as establishing structures, formal divisions, and a chain of command—the paper explores how entrenched mistrust, financial shortfalls,…
Reports are emerging of violations against Bedouin communities in Sweida. Just as recent abuses against Druze were condemned, these acts are equally unacceptable and must end. It is now the responsibility of Druze notables and factions to take action to stop them.

Israel had been clear... that they didn't want Syrian forces deployed to the deconfliction line in southern Syria. One way Israel is trying to advance that plan is to present itself as ‘protectors’ of the Druze community, says @HaidHaid22 via @AJEnglish. aljazeera.com/news/2025/7/16…

Over 100 days have passed since #Syria’s transitional government took office. While too short for transformative change, it marks a useful milestone to assess direction and coherence. My latest unpacks what’s working, what’s not, and why it matters. en.majalla.com/node/326442/op…
In my latest, I argue that while the ongoing effort to form a legislative body marks modest but meaningful progress over previous transitional attempts in Syria, too many unanswered questions remain about transparency, fairness, and legitimacy. en.majalla.com/node/326430/po…
