Complete derangement. One of those economists. Not my academic account. Use whatever pronouns you like.
I wrote about Miura. dropbox.com/s/3bfvzg9dfxll… I'll miss him.
Many people are saying that @monkey_reg is one of the most important political philosophers of our time.

A fine Death of Expertise moment here. "Are you an economist?" "I could be." "But you're not?" "I'm gonna major in it."
True on two levels: their behaviour as people, and the fact that despite having been through some of MMA's toughest careers in terms of putting on absolute wars, they can put on a fight like that as diminished as they are.
MMA will never deserve Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier.
That was exactly what it should have been. It was bittersweet, it was action-packed, and it let both men get their moments (Round 2 should be ROTY). Poirier ended it on his terms, giving it his all while on his last wheels against one of the best. I can't be unhappy with that.
Very happy that Max actually gets a win in the trilogy this time (and well deserved). Way too many voices in the combat sports world that would insist he got washed in all three fights and was never truly threatening otherwise.
I appreciate that Dustin realised it was indeed the last 10 seconds of the fight just late enough for the visible disappointment that he missed the opportunity to do that for another 15 seconds to flash on his face. (And then end up clinching anyway)
I really dislike that the commentary frames this as if Dustin can simply press a "do more button" and frogmarch into Max fucking Holloway. At least talk about the specific techniques or approaches by how he can do it. Give us a map of how it could happen!
Fight's not even over yet and it's already the perfect full stop, retirement point to both careers.
One of the cool little things about these two being such fighting nerds and great guys is they already figure out what was an actual bad-faith attempt at foul or just a consequence of technique interactions long before the refs do.
High utility kicks for Max. Gives him another method to diffuse Dustin's double jab and pressure, letting him reset range and rhythm to force his own combinations and pressure right back.
