HSAA - Union of Health-Care Professionals
@HSAAlberta
The Health Sciences Association of Alberta. Union representing 30,000 health-care professionals in Alberta's health-care system.
We were proud to stand alongside allies from across Canada at the @OntarioHealthC Health Coalition's Shadow Summit in Huntsville, where we talked about privatization, Pharmacare, improving care standards, and protecting healthcare as a human right for everyone.
Nearly one in two Albertans aren’t getting the care they need, when they need it. While short-staffing strains the system, health care professionals are working tirelessly. It’s time for fair wages and better conditions to retain and recruit the staff Albertans need. #abhealth

We asked HSAA members how short-staffing impacts care and got hundreds of heartfelt, frustrated responses. Watch President Mike Parker read some of them, and share your story: hsaa.ca/short-staffing
Every Albertan can see the pressure rising in our public health care system. It’s time for change. That means better support for paramedics, pharmacy technicians, diagnostic sonographers, lab technologists, and so many more who keep health care running every day. #abhealth

Short staffing, low wages and increased pressure mean Alberta risks losing health care professionals to other provinces. With the right investment in fair wages and better conditions, we can keep these professionals here, caring for the Albertans who need them. #abhealth

“These findings confirm what HSAA members have been telling us: Alberta’s frontline health-care professionals are overworked, underpaid, undervalued, and increasingly disillusioned about the future of our health-care system." Read the Report: hsaa.ca/post/hsaa-pres…

Heartbreaking. There were 87 lives were lost to opioid poisoning in March, the highest number ever recorded in the Edmonton region. We know the solutions: harm reduction services, prevention, and evidence-based care that meets people where they are. cbc.ca/news/canada/ed…

Frontline health-care professionals are overworked, underpaid, and undervalued. HSAA members know that without real change, we risk losing the people who keep health care running. Read the Parkland Institute report:
A hidden crisis is fuelling Alberta’s health-care retention challenges. A new Parkland Institute report finds widespread discrimination, deep wage inequities, and high levels of job-related stress among allied health-care workers. parklandinstitute.ca/undervalued

Happy #CanadaDay! 🇨🇦 Today we celebrate our people, our values, and our commitment to public health care. Thank you to every health-care worker on duty — you represent the best of us. Medicare isn’t perfect, but it reflects a core value: care based on need, not wealth.
