A new poll finds that 70% of LDP supporters want Ishiba to stay on as Prime Minister of Japan. A possible sign that anti-Ishiba posts on conservative Twitter may not be representative of the average LDP supporter.
🗳According to a new poll from Asahi a plurality of the Japanese don't think Ishiba should resign as PM. Furthermore, an overwhelming majority of LDP supporters think he should remain (!!). Kinda surprised tho.

20 MPs need to sponsor you to run for LDP presidency (i.e., premiership) 8/21 MPs who sponsored Takaichi lost their seats since september! Compare to Hayashi Yoshimasa, current chief cabinet secretary and another favorite. Only 3/20 of his sponsors lost.
Honestly, totally respectable. He’s willing to sacrifice his political reputation if it means preventing the country from falling into the hands of corrupt, far-right LDP clowns.
