.@grahamkw please don’t use the term “committed suicide” (twice on one page of @TVChoice )- suicide is not a crime and such old fashioned, judgemental language doesn’t help. TY
Deaths following release are quick (50% within 4 days) and predominantly drug related (72%). 32% of deaths within 2 weeks were in those released homeless. There is clear evidence of what we need to be doing better.
Of the 83 drug-related deaths investigated, 20 of these occurred within one day of release meaning that more drug-related deaths occurred within the first day of release than any other day. We cannot stress enough the importance of release planning.
