@TheRealMUmair wrote GailBot v. 0.0.0.1 as a rising sophomore (!!). GailBot v. 1.0 was just published! It's a paralanguage-to-text system - it can transcribe things like pauses/gaps, overlaps, etc. It's also written so y'all can add your own plugins. Tutorials/deets to come :)
For those of you interested in our GailBot software, here is a great demo created by @therealjmertens. sites.tufts.edu/hilab/2022/05/…

Dear friends, I am very happy to announce that the publication describing GailBot, our automated system for CA transcription, is out. See paper for details and disclaimers! journals.uic.edu/ojs/index.php/…
Congratulations to @PsychScience for having @EJWagenmakers as a new member on their board!
"Your data are falsified by my theory."
What's the best rejection argument you have received from a peer-reviewer? And by best I mean worst. Mine is: "This was an interesting article about president Carter, but I would have preferred reading about Nixon"
If you need any motivation for formulating a clear research question...

Traditionally, EMCA has focused on social factors on the timing of turns (e.g. preferred-ness), and Psycholinguistics on cognitive factors (e.g. frequency). In this new paper journals.uic.edu/ojs/index.php/… we found that both cognitive and social factors play a role in turn timing.
