Why is the soil so compacted in this research @uc_chile by Dr. Alejandra Acuña? The second photo is a clue 🐎 This paper outlines new methods to assess turf for safety and performance used for equestrian eventing #itrc25

A lot of expertise at one table!

Zoysia drought and heat tolerance is seriously impressive! #trufgrass #research
Drought tolerance study from .@NCTurfBreeding in the Zoysia Symposium this morning. #ITRC25
Dr. Trygve Aamlid from @NIBIO_landskap crunched the numbers on fertilization practices in cool climates. The advantage of fall fertilization was faster green-up and enhanced growth in September, October, and April, but this came at the expense of more annual bluegrass. #itrc25

The tough part about #ITRC25 is that we cannot be in multiple rooms at once!
Dr. Susana Milla-Lewis presenting to the 15th International Turfgrass Res Conference in Japan the USDA sponsored projects by turfgrass breeders and turf scientists at NCSU, OSU, TAMU, UF, UGA and UCR 2010-2024
Dr Bernd Leinauer’s grad student, Tatiana Kardashina, at @nmsu compared soil moisture data from satellites to local precision sensors. The technology is not QUITE ready to replace technologies that are closer to earth, but research will continue! #itrc25 #innovation #turfgrass

Thank you to the staff at JRA Tokyo Racecourse for this excellent tour. Even in the rain, it was so neat to see the turf replacement in progress. The dedication to surface hardness (not too hard, not too soft) and repairing bare patches between races is seriously impressive.…

Learn something new every day! This golf course in Japan tells the players the green speed, the cutting height, and the soil firmness. The tool used for measuring firmness is called the Yamanaka soil hardness meter #TheMoreYouKnow #Golf #Turf #ITRC25

The sign says “do not enter”, but most of these international turf researchers cannot read Japanese! We came to touch grass! #turfgrass #itrc25 #Japan

Honoured to visit Saitama Stadium and the experts that manage their turf. #ITRC25 #soccer #Japan #Saitama
