In our polarized political environment, I’m excited to share my new ASR publication: “Competence over Partisanship: Party Affiliation Does Not Affect the Selection of School District Superintendents”. : journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/00…

Grateful to be in-person @BrownUniversity this week to meet with colleagues and attend talks by @KiraboJackson at @AnnenbergInst - a scholar whose work has had such a large impact in shaping my research interests.

Thrilled that this paper with @C_CioccaEller and @kate_khanna is finally out in @SocEducation! We examine how colleges could better support students through "intermediate educational transitions", such as major declaration, to reduce inequality in educational attainment.
Jumping in from maternity leave to share that "Intermediate Educational Transitions, Alignment, and Inequality in U.S. Higher Education," with my intrepid co-authors @kate_khanna and @greermellon, was *officially* published today in @SocEducation! doi.org/10.1177/003804…
Grad students under 30: the @SG__Symposium essay contest for 2025 is open! The top 100 entries get a free trip to Switzerland to discuss politics and economics with international leaders. The year I went included Christine Lagarde. Very highly recommend! shorturl.at/rcoeC
Small comfort now, but vouchers went 0-3 on state ballots. 100’s of thousands of Trump voters voted against school vouchers. In KY, Trump won 65-35 but vouchers *lost* by the same margin—losing all 120 counties. In the reddest wave in decades, voters still rejected vouchers.
So cool to see work by @chriscandel, me, @GreerMellon , and @loeb_susanna in this EdWeek article. Thank you to Mark Lieberman for talking with us. edweek.org/leadership/mon… @AnnenbergInst @BrownSociology

Excited to share a new co-authored @AnnenbergInst working paper with @rauscher_emily and Susanna Loeb! We provide new evidence that school spending reduces child mortality, using data from close tax elections. edworkingpapers.com/ai24-1008
SUPER happy to share this paper, many years after @kate_khanna , @greermellon and I started this work using my diss data! In it, we argue that "intermediate educational transitions" are an important, understudied aspect of higher ed inequality. 1/4 journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/00…

It has been an honor to serve as an elected Alternate Judicial Delegate representing the Upper West Side. Tonight I voted to support Judge Leslie Stroth’s nomination to the Supreme Court! Her experience as a public defender and empathy are so important to have on the bench!

Passed my dissertation defense! Since it’s official, I’m excited to also share that I’ll be starting a postdoc @PSTC_Brown this Fall! Thanks so much again to my committee and to everyone who supported me through the PhD journey!!

A former undergrad student asked for recommendations for great introductory books/articles on survey design. Any favorites?
Congrats, Mark! This paper looks fascinating, and I'm really looking forward to reading it!
