Germany is stepping up action against Russia’s shadow fleet. Tankers in the Baltic Sea are being questioned about their insurance cover against oil pollution damage. The aim is to increase pressure on Russia’s shadow fleet and safeguard the Baltic Sea ecosystem.

Congratulations to Anita Lasker Wallfisch on her 100th Birthday. As the last survivor of the Women’s Orchestra of Auschwitz she has been an inspiration and an immensely important champion of Holocaust remembrance. It has been an honour for me talking with her.

Welcomed Hesse’s Finance Minister Alexander Lorz and members of the state parliament’s budget committee to the Embassy. We discussed the evolving landscape of trade & finance post-Brexit as well as the complementary roles of London and Frankfurt as financial centres in Europe.

Concerning that language learning is less widespread in schools in less affluent areas. Language learning should be an opportunity for everyone, not a privilege. German in particular is an extremely practical & sought-after skill – the highest in-demand among UK employers.
