Former suckler farmer now turned to a dairy calf to beef system/with some contract rearing. Married with two kids
It’s too early to be flailing hedges imo but this machine (belonging to my in laws) is very handy for cutting back the strong briars that sap current out of the our electric fencer and take over laneways
6 days sown and our latest reseed is starting to peep up through the soil. Great for our 2 little people to see the results of their hard work picking stones and helping to form the seed bed. But good results have brought in another round of wage negotiations 😁👍☘️

Some of our incalf contract heifers on the way back to the field, after getting their vaccine booster and fly treatment
Getting meal into troughs for these ladies has become a game of “can I get there before they take me out at the knees” 😅😁. On the plus side it’s a great sign of health and thrive 👍
A bundle of Jex contract heifer calves. They are getting a high fibre nut and being strip grazed in strong covers. So far they are clear of the dreaded summer scour🤞 It sets my teeth on edge to let grass get this strong before grazing but it’s working for them 😁👍🐮
A bundle of our incalf Jex contract ladies getting their breakfast on a damp mild morning here 🌧️🐮☘️
Strip grazing the contact heifers calves through heavier covers with more stem and fibre in them. Seems to be working, they are in good order and no digestive issues 👍☘️🐮 And we are teaching them early to clean out their paddocks
How do I explain to that the chinball is for marking heifers that he gets jiggy with, not for applying his makeup 🤷🏻♂️😁 Not sure how he managed it tbh

Took my eye off the ball and missed my slurry window i think. It’s not ideal but I’ll work around it and drive on 👍☘️😁
Hard to see but our grass seed is just getting a lovely gentle soaking. Timing couldn’t be better, bouncy castle just deflated after a big birthday weekend here, Miss.6 is now Miss.7 😊🌦️

With grass starting to get that waxy “under pressure for water “ look, we can’t waste a mouthful so these incalf ladies are in to eat headlands for the day ⚖️🐮☘️👍
Last years reseed and this years beside it, just starting to green up. Hopefully we get some rain soon so it doesn’t burn up 👍🤞🌦️☘️
Red clover brings baled up, came in at just over 5 bales to the acre, given the wilt it got I’m happy with that 👍☘️☀️
7 weeks sown and we are taking our first cut off the red clover, nice crop on it. Taking out some heavy paddocks at home too 👍💪☘️
This bundle of contract heifer calves are with us about 3 weeks. Have settled in very nicely, still don’t fully trust me though 😁 Beautiful morning here, looks like it’s gong to be a great day so the mower will be yoked up shortly 👍💪☘️☀️
Covers are a little high but these ladies don’t seem to mind. Will be knocking a few acres though, just to keep on the right side of quality, will be baled up with the red clover
