🔨WEEK-END UPDATE: HYCC-3 🚂 Excavation continues at the HYCC-3 construction site in Manhattan. The trench that will hold the tunnel box is now 60 feet deep, at the deepest point. The teams have removed more than 50,000 tons of soil and 1.7 million gallons of water.

Now that summer is here, we're preparing for in-water work on the Hudson River Ground Stabilization project to resume, shifting the temporary cofferdam in the Hudson River east toward Manhattan. Work to stabilize the riverbed for tunnel boring will continue inside the cofferdam.

All delays are bad, but delays during rush hour are especially problematic since so many commuters rely on trains to get to and from work. The HTP will provide reliable rail transit that gets workers where they need to go and support economic growth across the region.
Due to an Amtrak signal issue in one of the Hudson River tunnels, NJ TRANSIT rail service is subject to up to 30-minute delays into and out of Penn Station New York.
Since the North River Tunnel only has two tubes, any small problem causes delays for riders going in both directions. This is why we need to build two new tubes and rehab the existing tunnel to ensure reliable service, even when one tube has to close.
