Gardaí attached to Santry Roads Policing held a quick checkpoint at Dublin Airport last night. Two cars were seized for being driven without insurance - both driver's were returning from holidays. The District Court is a far cry from a Pina Colada on the beach. 🏖️ #SaferRoads

Gardaí from the Roads Policing Unit in Cavan detected this motorcyclist travelling 171km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N55 this afternoon. He was arrested for dangerous driving and since charged to appear in court at a later date. We also seized the bike. #SaferRoads

We seized this bike, and issued a fine and points to the driver as they were travelling with a pillion passenger some 57km/h above the limit on the outskirts of Donegal Town at the weekend. The driver will have to apply to the District Court to get the bike back. #SaferRoads


Roscommon Gardaí pulled in the driver of this car after they saw him using the phone while driving along Racecourse Road. The driver failed a roadside drug test and a small quantity of cannabis was seized from the car. A court date will be issued by post. #SaferRoads

DUBLIN TRAFFIC: A 'slow drive' public gathering is currently underway on the N11 (Stillorgan Road) inbound from South Dublin to the city centre. Gardaí wish to advise motorists to expect traffic disruption along this route and consider an alternative road, where possible.

Gardaí in Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo detected the drivers of both of these cars driving while uninsured. The cars were subsequently impounded. The drivers will be expected in court at a later date where they will face a possible disqualification for up to two years. #SaferRoads

About 11:30pm last night, we clocked the young driver of this car travelling 35km/h above the limit on the M50. He has held his full licence an impressive 17 days. When tested on the roadside, he was positive for both cocaine and cannabis so he was arrested. #SaferRoads

While out on patrol of the N7 near Kill, Co. Kildare at rush-hour this morning, Gardaí stopped this driver after he was seen dangerously whizzing past traffic by using the hard shoulder. He's been fined €80 and given two points. FYI: We don't set the penalties. #SaferRoads

Gardaí on patrol in Dooradoyle, Limerick last night pulled in this unaccompanied learner driver after they saw him using the phone while driving a car that had no lights on. Cocaine, bags for supplying it and €1,100 in cash was discovered when the car was searched. #SaferRoads
