IMO a big reason so many folks are flocking to Fantastic 4 and Superman is simply that they're aesthetically distinct films that don't require much or any franchise homework to enjoy. I don't think the issue was ever "superhero fatigue" but rather "cinematic universe fatigue."

It’s so cool seeing the internet fall in love with The Summer Hikaru Died. When I read the manga I figured it would always be a cult classic, that any adaptation would be at best okay, and maybe pull in a few thousand new fans. Never been happier to be wrong.
