Let’s build a grassroots coalition and vision to realize the potential of newly de-congested NYCstreets: sociallifeproject.org/nyc-is-stuck-i… @Fred_Kent @OpenPlans @chabot_jackson @StreetsblogNYC @NNYPlan
“In reality, the duty to prevent collisions should fall on the road engineers, car companies, and public officials who create the system in which people drive, bike, or walk—and not on road users themselves.” — @DavidZipper in @FastCompany fastcompany.com/91233037/whos-…
“Public space may be the prerequisite for democracy, but its presence alone is not enough. Only the People can ensure the publicness of our public spaces and the vitality of our democracy.” @Fred_Kent while at @PPS_Placemaking
In many ways successful democracy is built on the foundation of how we create and preserve our #publicspaces. It is from reconnecting people through places and to places that we can reinvent and reinvigorate our civic infrastructure and democracy. pps.org/article/open-l…
