Silverfield said he heard rumors after the game. He and Traylor didn't talk about it until recently. He said he told Traylor "there's no explanations needed." He added "If we had handled our business as a program and on the field, then it wouldn’t have even been a discussion."

McCown also said. "I didn’t ask for any of that information. It kind of, based of my little emoji reaction, it caught me by surprise."

UTSA coach Jeff Traylor said the information shared with QB Owen McCown was never shared with anybody at UTSA and it didn't make any sense. McCown's comments: "The information was completely irrelevant, and it doesn’t really fit week-in an week-out how we prepare."

American Conference commissioner Tim Pernetti on Memphis/Big 12 report: "I was very aware of the conversations. ...I understand Memphis' ambition. ...I also give them credit for having the guts to go after it."
