1/ Expressions like “Vatican II sect” or “conciliar Church” are convenient shorthand—but one must not be fooled. There is no independent entity with a religion detached from Catholicism. To speak as if there were is to risk slipping into incantation.
"The Holy Spirit sweetens the yoke of the divine law and lightens its weight, so that we may observe God’s commandments with the greatest of ease and even with pleasure." - St. Lawrence of Brindisi
1/ Objection: “If Leo XIV is not a true pope, who authorizes priests to offer Mass? Isn't this self-jurisdiction—the very thing condemned in others?” 🧵 A response, according to the Cassiciacum Thesis.
🧵 1/12 Objection: “If the Church is always visible and living, she cannot be without a Pope. Therefore, sedevacantism contradicts Satis Cognitum.” Let’s examine how the Cassiciacum Thesis responds — without denying visibility, unity, or indefectibility.👇
1/ Is the so-called “una cum Mass” — that is, a Mass celebrated “in union with N., our Pope” — abominable, defiled, wounded, imperfect in God’s eyes, unable to transmit grace, and a mortal sin to attend? 🧶
Intro/ THREAD — Why care about modern conclaves if Vatican II leaders aren’t Catholic? Isn’t it all irrelevant? Here’s why the Cassiciacum Thesis offers the only consistent answer. Visibility, authority, designation—all clarified in 10 tweets.
1/ The question “What becomes of the Church’s visibility if the Pope lacks formal authority?” is not a real objection, but a difficulty. It expresses confusion, not refutation. Let’s first clarify the difference. 🧵
1/ Can a defect of intention be objectively identified without a canonical judgment? Yes. It does not require judging internal guilt or private will, but observing the objective absence of the intention required to realize the proper end. 🧵
1/ The distinction between intention in marriage/sacraments and in receiving papal authority is analogical, not equivocal. This analogy is used to clarify general moral and theological principles related to intention, consent, and valid reception. 🧵
The Cassiciacum Thesis applies a classic principle to a novel situation. But this principle — that intention can block reception of an effect — is not novel. 🧵
1/ “Show a pre-Vatican II citation stating one may occupy an ecclesiastical office materially while lacking formal authority.” Saint Antoninus of Florence taught this distinction clearly. But let’s clarify what is and is not precedent. 🧵
1/ It is important to clarify that the distinction between lack of intention and evil intention is not only acknowledged — it is central to the Cassiciacum Thesis itself. This key nuance is explicitly laid out by Bp. Guérard des Lauriers in the first Cahier of Cassiciacum. 🧵
"There is no sin nor wrong that gives man such a foretaste of Hell in this life as anger and impatience." - St. Catherine of Siena
1/ Objection: heretics are ipso facto deprived of jurisdiction and their acts are null, even without any declaration. This view cites St Bellarmine and Church Fathers. But such a claim oversimplifies canonical and theological doctrine. Let's clarify. 🧶
"Consider your goodness, and see how weak, narrow, calculating, and self-interested it is, when compared with the goodness of God. You are good to those who are good to you . . . In the presence of coldness, ingratitude, and insults, your good nature is offended." - Fr. Gabriel
1/ Objection: Heretics are excommunicated, and excommunicated persons cannot hold office in the Church. So how could they validly elect or retain any function? The answer requires careful distinctions in theology and canon law. 🧵
I would gladly give him the benefit of the doubt if he were one of the true popes prior to Vatican II. However, with Vatican II and its erroneous doctrines, after the liturgical subversion of the New Mass, after sacrilegious gatherings such as the infamous one in Assisi in 1986,…
The Holy Father does not say that care for creation is the primary and essential mission of the Church. We should always give the other the benefit of the doubt. This is even more true with the pope. His statement is fine and in no way betrays Catholic teaching.
"Kindness has converted more sinners than zeal, eloquence, or learning." - Fr. Frederick W. Faber
A lesser-known Vatican II HERESY is the denial of Tradition as a source of Revelation, which was done to please the Protestants. A perfect example of heresy by omission. Document: shorturl.at/U4fau Below is an excerpt from my Modern Errors III course:
