Intrigued by the 2022 book When Children Draw Gods, which does exactly what it says on the label. I wanted to give some examples. It is very richly illustrated

Witch balls. If you want to read the history of the tradition then follow the thread. Book chapter in my book, Building Magic, with Ceri Houlbrook.
Witch balls. Hate to be a party pooper, but those glass ball decorations you see in museums labelled "witch balls"? The idea they are old protective objects is wrong. The first ref to such a thing is in "Country Life" magazine in 1913. It is a 20thC invented tradition. Sorry!
This book is 120 years old and is still the best ghost story collection of all time
I shall be reading this today from cover to cover (Edward Arnold London, 1905). It arrived like a ghost-bomb, changing everything. Like all old books, it's haunted by owners - in this case JC Weston of Camberwell and later Arthur and Margaret Cole of Palace Gardens Terrace, W8.
