Fix New Orleans
@FixNOLA
Let's fix crime, roads, and other basic local government failures plaguing our amazing city for decades. Demand better, prioritize differently. #NOLATwitter
PSA: Our soft-on-crime DA and judges routinely let actual criminals with guns go free. But city leaders ignore it. x.com/FixNOLA/status…
WWL-TV's @MikePerlstein discussed his eye-opening report about New Orleans DA and judges undermining LA law to go easy on felons with guns. @LDAAJustice #lalege @MomsDemand 🎙️ Why did the DA's office grant multiple breaks to violent criminals? @WWLAMFM audacy.com/podcast/wwl-fi…

Deja Vu: National news tonight on @NBCNightlyNews. 📺 New Orleans officials mistakenly release inmate from same prison where 10 escaped in May
Mayoral candidates promise "accountability." But after all of the chaos and public safety threats stemming from the mismanagement of the jail, are they calling on Sheriff Hutson to resign? Seems like an easy call to make. Were they asked that question? Here's a mashup.

Being convicted makes one a member of a protected class? 🤔
In New Orleans, improvements to the city’s “Ban the Box” ordinance could better challenge employment barriers. An Oct. 11 ballot amendment could expand that protection to include housing buff.ly/maz5NhB
This is simply unacceptable, unbelievable, inconceivable & all the un and ins one can think of. This hit & run was totally preventable #lalege
🎡 What happened before the hit-and-run? Bryan Johnson was charged with *over 40 crimes* since 2021. The DA refused at least 24 of them; including 10x illegally carrying weapons, battery, possession of stolen things, possession of stolen auto, fentanyl... #lalege @LAGovJeffLandry
Maybe if you had mugshots on your website you would not have "clerical errors" 2022 Act 494 was repealed last year. @LAGovJeffLandry @AGLizMurrill Kavin Bryan v Kalil Bryan Unfortunatley, they meant to release the guy with the $2,000 bond for theft of a firearm. @FixNOLA
The level of dangerous incompetence is just stunning. @TheJusticeDept can you all please take over?
BREAKING NEWS: Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick will hold a press conference to address an incident involving the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office in which a prisoner was mistakenly released from custody. wwltv.com/article/news/l…
Why Kirkpatrick? Why not @SheriffHutson? Why not @mayorcantrell ? Any comment from @HelenaMorenoLA or @otforus or @RoyceDuplessis ? NOLA needs leadership that has the guts to call out our failures.
If we simply locked up the small fraction of people who are repeat offenders, our quality of life in NOLA would 10x.

It is UNREAL that the local media says nothing about this! Or the fake trials. Every day it’s a new one like this - a revolving door for criminals. Elections have consequences, of course, but if this is hidden from the public, how would they even know when they go to vote???

“Orleans Parish Criminal District Court takes nearly three years, on average, to close its cases from arrest to disposition — triple the time that authorities on courts set as the goal to resolve felonies.” We need a Fix New Orleans caucus for *so many* reasons, #lalege.
Murder cases in New Orleans take longer to resolve than almost anywhere in the country. The chronic delays inflict years of anguish on the families of murder victims.🧵(1/7) nola.com/interactive/mu…
