R194 Virginia to Ballyjamesduff road closed until tomorrow evening due to a serious incident. Road closed from N3 roundabout to Dunancory bridge. Strictly no through route from bridge to roundabout for any traffic.

The N3 is currently temporarily closed at New Inns while Ballyjamesduff fire brigade attends to a van fire near Sheridan’s Garage. Some delays are to be expected and motorists are advised to avoid the area for the present.

This month, we ran two Transportation Incidents courses at Virginia Station, including the first QQI certified Transportation Incidents course delivered in Cavan. Cathaoirleach, Cllr TP O'Reilly dropped by to wish the firefighters well and get to grips with some of the RTC tools!


Photos from last night as firefighters from Ballyconnell, Belturbet, and Killeshandra battled a gorse/forestry fire on Snugborough, Ballyconnell. Drone assistance was provided by Cavan Civil Defence and Coillte was also in attendance, with a helicopter providing aerial support



Cathaoirleach Cllr TP O'Reilly stopped by Dublin Rd, Cavan today, to observe proceedings as @firecavan was completing our 5th & final one-day Emergency Traffic Management course of the year. Thanks to the businesses at Lakelands Retail Park for their help facilitating the course
