I was aiming for Beatlesque sounds as Christine Darling in 1999. Twenty+ years later I am honoured to share women's stories about how the Beatles have shaped and influenced their lives: A Women's History of the Beatles (Bloomsbury Academic 2021).

Live Aid was 40 years ago today? I beg your pardon??? I distinctly remember that day - watching it in my hometown of Chicago with my best friend. For us, Live Aid was all about U2. We thought "Bad" was the stand-out moment of Live Aid. ❤️ youtu.be/HvBgRSSlVBA?si…
Swoon looks to be a fine addition to recent books taking girls' fandom seriously - acknowledging a thrilling way young women have helped shape cultural history. Just bought a copy, @bmartinezgatell. Wishing you much success!
💕 Swoon hits bookshops on Thurs, so let’s start as we mean to go on: screaming, fainting and fighting police offers. It was always the girls who saw the future first. #fangirl #feminist #swoon #elvis #beatles #stones #history #popculture #beachreads🏖️ #revolution
The basis for a good portion of A Women's History of the Beatles! Girls led Beatlemania and there are many knowledgeable women who have kept the fandom alive for over 60 years.
since when did men start to question women on their knowledge of the beatles ??? baby we are the blueprint to beatlemania are you crazy
Happy 83rd birthday to the always brilliant and beautiful Sir Paul. ❤️

Brian Wilson & the Beach Boys' story reflects the best of US culture during the 20th century: the drive to creativity, representing local experiences, and connecting with the wider world through music. Thank you, Brian. You channeled and manifested something truly special. ✨️

While it's nice that A Women's History of the Beatles is mentioned positively in this article, I am a Beatles expert - as are the women I write about in Chapter 5 of the book. The argument she makes here is mine throughout that chapter! independent.co.uk/arts-entertain…
Handed in the manuscript yesterday!

Glad to know you like the article, @yokoono! I hope you do, too, @seanonolennon. I really thought David Sheff wrote an excellent biography.
Yoko Ono, ‘the first female punk rocker’, is an artist of benevolent magic by Christine Feldman-Barrett, Griffith University, The Conversation theconversation.com/yoko-ono-the-f…
Yoko Ono has long been abused as a homewrecker – and worse. A new biography celebrates her joyful positivity in adverse circumstances – and celebrates her as an artist. @FeldmanBarrett @Griffith_Uni theconversation.com/yoko-ono-the-f…
The @ConversationEDU kindly asked me to review David Sheff's biography of Yoko Ono. I can only recommend it. theconversation.com/yoko-ono-the-f…
So very sorry to hear you've left us, Clem. theguardian.com/music/2025/apr…
Hmmmm.... so many mixed emotions about this casting. Seems the rumours from months ago were true. Probably feel most confident about Paul Mescal as he's a very good actor. What are you all thinking? 🤔
The Beatles - A Four-Film Cinematic Event, directed by Sam Mendes. Harris Dickinson (John Lennon) Paul Mescal (Paul McCartney) Barry Keoghan (Ringo Starr) Joseph Quinn (George Harrison) In theatres April 2028. #TheBeatlesFourFilmCinematicEvent
I can't think of a more iconic garage rock anthem than The Standells' "Dirty Water." Very sad to hear of Larry Tamblyn's passing today. Lucky to have seen the Standells in 2000 at The Las Vegas Grind. Hearfelt condolences to his family & friends. ❤️

Luddite teens! A very interesting article about youth who are not keen on the hyper-connection of smart phones and tech overall in everyday life. nytimes.com/2025/01/30/sty…
Sad news not only for those who knew and loved Rick Buckler best, but also for the Mod community worldwide. 💔
I'm shocked and saddened by Rick's passing. I'm thinking back to us all rehearsing in my bedroom in Stanley Road, Woking. To all the pubs and clubs we played at as kids, to eventually making a record. What a journey! (1/4 - P.W)
