Everyone deserves a place to call home. We fight for racial, economic, and housing justice in New Jersey and beyond.
Today, @GovMurphy signed legislation authorizing $500 million in tax credits for affordable housing. Thanks to sponsors @SenMTeresaRuiz, @SpeakerCoughlin, @SenPresScutari, @Troy4NJ7, @SenGreenstein, @NJSenTurner, @BenjieWimberly & @AswPintorMarin. More: njsendems.org/CivicAlerts.as…

From @northjersey | Op-Ed: NJ’s officials must use mansion tax to restore affordable housing funds now by HCDNNJ President & CEO @staciberger & Gateway CAP Exec Director Edward Bethea northjersey.com/story/opinion/…
Big win for housing in NJ! Today, @GovMurphy signed my bill, A3128, into law. The bill helps create more housing for middle-income workers. Because teachers, police officers and caregivers should be able to afford live in a home in the communities where they work.
By ensuring that every municipality in New Jersey creates its fair share of affordable housing, we’re opening doors for families like Shala’s. Proud to be featured in @RWJF series on community-led solutions to the housing crisis — watch the full video:youtube.com/watch?v=JxzpB0…
The Affordable Housing Trust Fund was gutted in the new NJ budget. This is a reckless, fiscally short-sighted move — penny-wise but pound-foolish. Our state policymakers must do better.
New Jersey's cuts to the Affordable Housing Trust Fund are economically senseless. This is often the only source of funding for smaller, shovel-ready developments. We're calling on Gov. Murphy & legislative leaders to restore the full funding. newjerseymonitor.com/2025/07/03/adv…

Municipalities are critical partners in the construction of affordable housing and I’m encouraged to see that the new law I sponsored has been largely a success. The numbers speak for themselves and will lay the foundation for the housing we desperately need.🏡
Good news: 424 New Jersey municipalities filed plans to meet their affordable housing needs by the June 30 deadline. Far more municipalities are participating in NJ's affordable housing process than ever before. Read our full press release to learn more: fairsharehousing.org/press-release/…

This year marks 50 years since the Mount Laurel decision, which declared exclusionary zoning unconstitutional in NJ, and the founding of Fair Share Housing Center. We celebrated with a powerful symposium at @PrincetonSPIA on the past & future of affordable housing.

Middletown's attempt to block affordable housing by condemning a property has been thwarted. "This puts towns on notice that these kinds of efforts to circumvent the Mount Laurel process will not be tolerated," said @FairShareNJ's Ariela Rutbeck-Goldman. app.com/story/news/loc…
Millions for pet projects, but cutting funding for the Affordable Housing Trust fund which helps to construct homes for working families... x.com/FairShareNJ/st…
NJ's cuts to the Affordable Housing Trust Fund are a big mistake — this is often the only source of funds for small developments. While A3128/S4071 adds $100M in tax credits per year, it’s not a substitute. Both tools are essential to addressing the housing affordability crisis.
“A big piece of the proposal is essentially re-creating rental assistance as we know it and turning it into a state rental assistance block grant program,” Kim Johnson, Senior Director of Policy – on potential federal aid budget cuts. Article here: ow.ly/K3II50WiEW7

The NJ Legislature just diverted critical $ from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund—again. @HCDNNJ denounces this reckless move & the failure to use Mansion Tax revenue for affordable homes. NJ deserves better. #NJBudget #HouseNJ Read more: tinyurl.com/NJBudgetHCDNNJ
The State of NJ passed a mansion tax , but Instead of dedicating these funds to to produce and preserve affordable homes, our state leaders are opting for a short-term fiscal patch at the expense of long-term affordability.
We are calling on the New Jersey legislature to dedicate at least half of the mansion tax to support New Jersey's Affordable Housing Trust Fund.
